OK I plead guilty,my posting was made and not to be serious,sorry if I have offended anyone by pinning their colours to the mast in such an obvious way ,citizen Smith,good programme and a true representaion of those activists that were around at the time who wanted to change the world to their ideal.

The actor was Robert Lindsay who I was lucky enough to see in the play Onassis on Thursday night in Derby. (Sorry this is off post, but I was very excited about going to see my hero!)

Maggie said when socialists talk about narrowing the gap between the rich and the poor, they are talking about narrowing the gap at the lower end, not the upper end of the wealth ladder. I find that to be scary and totally unacceptable. I think it should be about helping the poor to catch up with the rich, not the other way around. Oh! I am derailing here. This column is for Gambia politics, not international politics.

Sedia Jatta was duly elected Party Chairman/President at the recently concluded PDOIS congress and Halifa Sallah Secretary General last time i checked. Why do you always have to throw spanners in the works with your twisted mind. NADD is a union of political parties comprising PDOIS and other parties. You will never twist facts to suit your agenda while we are here. I know it is your wish for continuous disharmony between UDP and PDOIS but i hope you are on your own

According to pdois's own press statement, they did not elect any official but instead decided that they would meet later this year or early next year to elect party officials. Also, My understanding is that Sidia was not even in attendence.If he has been elected party chaiman/president, he would have by now loose his parliamentary seat on the grounds of belonging to two political parties contrary to the dictates of the constitution. This is what was adopted at the PDOIS Congress;

''The seventh resolution took cognizance of the fact that internal party democracy is inconceivable without power being exercised by the party members and that power must extend to the election of executive members of the party. The Congress further took note of the fact that this is the first congress that PDOIS held after the establishment of NADD. It resolves that the delegates should go back to work for the branches of the party to flourish in order to enable the membership to develop relation and understanding with each other. It resolves to hold another Congress at the latter part of this year or early next year to enable the party to update its registration of members and facilitate the democratic selection of delegates so as to elect party executive members.''

Even their recent public notice have it as '' Sidia Jatta of NADD''.

The concept might be that NADD is a union of parties, an alliance or whatever you call it but under the law, it is a recognised independent soveriegn party just like UDP, pdois and any other registered party. That is what matters. Those of us who are clueless of the issues should take a back seat and listen. If Sidia accepts a position in PDOIS, I would consult a lawyer and institute a legal proceeding in my own right to have him booted out of the National Assembly. There would be no need for the clerk to act this time around. I will do it for him.

My statement was not intended to take a swing at anybody but just to clarify the facts so as to enable the readers to understand and appreciate the context and background of the reference to Hon. Sidia Jatta in the UDP communique', and to avoid people confusing it as a response to PDOIS's recent public pronouncement.

I hope this helps

So you do understand and appreciate the constitutional and legal argument in the opposition unity debate. Hamga danga dof dof lu. PDOIS is legally and tecnically part of NADD until it chooses to opt out of it. Why may i ask are you trying to detach PDOIS from NADD? If your aguement had not needed a reality check then Mr Darboe is legally only permitted to speak to NADD instead of PDOIS since [PDOIS] is part of NADD. By the way do you know know that UDP is still legally tied to NADD? Can you tell your legal Gurus to legally opt out before the Sheikh pounces on this silly technicality at the oppotune moment. On an other note, thanks for bringing me to notice the relevant underlinings from the PDOIS's congress regarding the election of its executive. I must admit i had overloked that portion. Seems like the Ayatollah and his lot had done their homework very well while the vultures(you included) were ready to pounce on their mistake. You should appreciate the fact that these people are a hundred miles ahead of you.

I have read the above and could not find anything worth responding to, no substance no commonsense but irrational invectives. I am sure I have accurately describe the legal position of NADD as per the supreme court ruling. It is therefore unnecessary for me to go back on that. I care about the facts, not the fictions. That is why I produced PDOIS's resolution here. Otherwise, I have no interest in PDOIS's politics even though I understand it better than some of their indoctrinated followers and supporters.

I am sure the readership is now well informed by my clarification, and that is it; job done.

Surprise, surprise!! Doing the runner yet again as the heat in the kitchen intensifies. I am just giving you the dose of your own medicine since you love to spin to put PDOIS and you perceived enemies in an awkward position. Let me spell out the facts, substance and common sense from my "irrational invectives" again;

a. PDOIS is legally and tecnically part of NADD until it chooses to opt out of it.

b. If your aguement had not needed a reality check then Mr Darboe is legally only permitted to speak to NADD instead of PDOIS since [PDOIS] is part of NADD.

c. UDP is still legally tied to NADD.

d. The Sheikh and the APRC can pounce on this silly technicality at any oppotune moment.

e. The Ayatollah and his lot had done their homework very well while the vultures(you included) were ready to pounce on their mistake.

f. These people(The Ayatollah and his lot) are a hundred miles ahead of you when it comes to facts and substance acquisition.

Why are you running scared Nyari? Are the UDP Parliamentarians sending you death threats already?

Runner? But there is nothing there to run away from just as there is nothing there to keep me going. I came in to make a clarification and I am glad that I have delivered on that.

All the issues sorrounding or connected to NADD have been extensively debated here and exhausted. I therefore see no reason why I should go back on that.As far as authoritative facts are concern, both NADD and UDP are distinct independent soveriegn parties and they are listed as such on the roll of the IEC. If you want to believe otherwise, then that is entirely your prerogative but it is certainly not an issue for me. Unless there is an entirely new issue that has not being dealt with before, it is job done for me. However, that doesn't mean you shouldn't continue vomitting your garbage and exposing your ineptness. I think you should because it gives me a great source of laughter and the comfort of knowing that I have pressed the button quite hard.

Oh come on Nyarikangbanna ......... you know that the folks here LOVE to write about Gambian political parties and pick over what they say and publish, I think you MAY be seen as a spoil sport if you do not engage in a long and protracted diatribe on this topic
Are there any reports in the media on," the Party would be holding a mass rally in the city of Brikama this Saturday, September 18th, 2010. We invite you to deploy your normal resources and correspondents " Personally I havn't seen anything,a brief resume of what went on and who spoke would be interesting to many here on bantaba I am certain.

Yes toubab, you are right. That's why I came back. But they too have to come up with something that can keep the game going, not dead horses

As for the Brikama rally, my understanding is that it went well and even saw some defections from the ruling APRC. It is also my understanding that a video of the rally will be out soon although I haven't being able to authoritatively confirm that.

You brought up the legal and constitutional arguments about NADD to this discussion, so why are you running away from it now? You claimed that Sidia Jatta belong exclusively to NADD, therefore lacks the legal basis to negotiate for PDOIS until i reminded you that PDOIS is part and parcel of NADD until such a time they choose to opt out of it legally, unlike the UDP which legally had not pull out after contesting elctions under a NADD ticket. Until such a time a time the UDP has seen the sense to legally pull out of NADD it is legally bound within the NADD set-up, despite what the IEC said. Last time i checked, the IEC is not the law. PDOIS and PPP are also independent entities distinct from NADD according to the IEC but PDOIS and PPP are still part of NADD in the eyes of the law.
