France ban veil

diaspora! Too many Chiefs and Very Few Indians.

Halifa Salah: PDOIS is however realistic. It is fully aware that the Gambian voters are yet to reach a level of political consciousness that they rely on to vote on the basis of Principles, policies and programmes and practices.

"Announced last month by the French president and his ministers, the decision to dismantle Gypsy camps will see some 700 people with Romanian passports sent back to the country by the end of August. A first batch of 79 travellers is due to arrive in Bucharest today; another 131 have been sent to Timisoara.

So far, the returns are “voluntary”, meaning that each adult who opts to board a plane has received €300 ($385), along with €100 for each of their children".

No. Islam does not require a woman to hide her face. That is true. Personally I am against covering face. It is not Islamic. In my personal opinion, that is not necessary. In my opinion it is stupid.

But that does not change the fact that my principle of secularism. Government does not have a duty to legislate the choice of fashion. You can not legislate culture, fashion style.

Sorry meme, I will have to burst your bubble. You probably think you scored big time when you get that link from Turkey. No, you did not. It is also crazy that Turkish government has a ban on scarf. While scarf is Islamic, but it is still personal choice and government has no business to legislate that. I am also critical on Turkish Government. Turkish government tradition is heavily influenced by French political tradition. When Ottoman has provided the special trade and political rights to France in 1740, the start of French influence has started. Until recently, French language was official second language of intellectuals in Turkey. School of thought of Franco politics had influence heavily Ottomans and Turkish Elite. Turks' understanding of secularism is also similar to French. Not like Anglo tradition of more liberal secularism.

I prefer liberal secularism instead of French type of, or totalitarian secularism of Stalinist Soviet or China.

First of all, 'Roman' and 'Gypsies' are citizen of Romania, and , they are citizen of EU. Every EU citizen can travel within the borders of EU that includes France and Scotland. So, any move to make these people go back to Romania does not comply with the spirit of EU idea. Every EU citizen can travel within EU. There are some work authorization restrictions for Romanian and Bulgarian citizens, but expelling them is discriminative of EU idea.

Armenian workers are different from Gypsies. They are not citizen of turkey. They have no legal right to be in Turkey. They are illegal immigrants. So you are comparing apples with bananas.

Again, you are very prejudiced about me. Turkish threat to send illegal Armenian immigrants are also wrong in my book while it is different situation.

It is different, however, similar cases usually happens in France. Especially since Sarkozy arrived.

Nope, was just wanting to show you that there are always two sides to every story and that we on Bantaba don't have to be like tabloid journalists (ooh let's create a stir here with this headline) Hence my strongly worded denouncement on the African women link!

Nothing more, nothing less ..... sorry, to disappoint, Turk but it's not all about you

What! That is boring. There is no fun, if not like tabloid journalists. I am disappointed that we do not have gossip and a section dedicated to paparazzi photos of bantaba members.
