Don't forget there's no electric at sangyang yet, surely the best thing to do is too come and live here for a year or so before building/buying, it doesn't matter how many times you've been here as a tourist, its very very different to actually living here. |

i agree on that, i would love to stay for a minimum of three months, i know that when good cheap properties come on the market money talks if yo have cash there and then you can become the homeowner in a mattter of days. i still want a house out there, and would rent it out no problem. no electricity in sanyang, what a shame, what are the next areas to watch for |

Plenty of houses to rent here, most owners ask too much rent and they remain empty, the one opposite us is lovely, but never been rented out as the rent is 125,000 dls per year, so it stays empty!!!! The best thing to do is come and have a good look round and see what area is suitable to you personally. I like it here at KerrSerign as its close to the beach, near the highway, but nice and quiet, but then again this area is known for water shortages, so its swings and roundabouts!Fajara is lovely, but the fact the High Commission is there and MRC puts the prices up. Manjai area has some lovely rentals as well and its pretty central for everywhere. Brufut just looks like a building site at the moment,TAF houses are an eyesore to my mind and the Sheraton is just plain ugly!!And I bet there are loads of lovely places I've not discovered yet. |

Greetings Jambo, if you want electricity, water & hospital it's gotta be KANILAI! You will also be able to afford the magic water! Friends text from Barra Kunda real early today, still difficulty with water for bathing & a wedding to take place. Rents are high in Fajara & with regard to the MRC, if your ill you have to get there for around 5.30/6am for your ticket to see a doctor as xxx amount are allocated on a daily basis. Why not live with your friends for three months & give them the dalasis? Have a nice cold week.........regards, |

thanks sab and toubab, i have stayed in kerr serign agree on the water shortage, whats is that all about, stayed at brusabi, loved it but they wanted to much rent, why do they always want to rent for a year, and then when you say no , they leave it empty, i have seen many places just left run down because they want 1 years rents, so stupid. sab, not sure about kanilai, i visited there once, what a trek, nice big HOUSE there, but not sure i would visit some of the neighbours , will stay with friends if possible for three months but eventually want own place. the sad thing is this, i wanted to buy land and build a house two years ago, but because of silly, greedy people who block you it never happened. now i am wiser i will get there |

Thats Far too expensive Eve for a land 40x23.5 in Jabang. With D240,000 you can still have a 50x50 around Serekunda,Bijilo,Sukuta or Brikama area. |

I still have a dream of owning land to build a house. I would want land between brufut and gunjur, 50 X 50. Or a house. I dont have alot of money, but I will be marrying a senegalese/gambia guy. I am not interested in profitering, just on making a home in gambia.
In 2008 I will be getting married, so this year I am looking for a good investment.
Ideally I want 3 bedrooms and a european bathroom.
I stayed at footsteps at gunjur and would like whatever I develop to be ecologically sound. Any advice would be really appreciated.
THANKS!

Eve,
I wouldn't pay more than D100k for the plot at Jabang. But, why Jabang of all places? What attracted you to that place, if I may ask? For now, I would recommend a place in Batokunku or Tujereng; the former is right by the beach, and the latter is probably going to be the next Brusubi. I do understand that SSHFC has a layout there, Tujereng, that is.

Eve, Jabang is withn the greater Banjul area nowadays. The development arround there has mede prises high. The other reason is people coming from Europe and the US makes prises highter because they do not bargin. Where you there to buy the land? |

Jambo, if you want water all the time and electricity most of the time - look for a place in Bakau. Anyway, away from the tourist area, because these guys use up too much water for their showering and too much power for their laptops and to charge their digital cameras, electric toothbrushes and mobiles! When in Rome, act like the Romans do..but unfortunately, not many tourists know how to. |
