I was told by Gambians that I should be able to buy land 50X50 around gunjur and build a house (3 bed bungalow) with bantaba and watchmans house all for around £20,000. Is that still realistic? |

Most of the houses and land in the estate agents here have crazy prices, but if you have an ear to the ground you will come across reasonably priced properties and land. We went to look at a place at Tujering the other week, the land was huge and so was the 3 bed bungalow, complete with solar, well and outhouses.... for 15,000 pounds sterling, needless to say it was snapped up whilst we were there. Also there is a plot of land at Sangyang with partially built 3 bed house and well going for 6,ooo pounds sterling, there is also a 3 bed house for sale at kololi with generator, and well with pump, and enough land to build another property on , fully furnished down to crockery and cutlery, fridge, freezer, combination microwave, plasma air con and tv, going for 80,000 pounds sterling. There are alot of cheaper properties out here, its just getting to hear about them and being here to snap them up. If you choose to build here, either get a reputable company to oversee it, or be here yourself fulltime to supervise or you can end up with big problems. Much cheaper and easier to rent a place and give a local family an income. |
