THEY BROKE UP:

By Kayjatta.

She's eighteen
And he's thirty-five
They strolled the evening in green parks
Where fireflies
Glow with the forbidden word
She rested her head upon his shoulder
Becoming the perfect woman
For a moment
He allowed it
Who wouldn’t?

They pressed their weary bodies together
It was on the bank of River Gambia
The night like Saturn’s rings
And he hasn't done this in a while

They stood there
Like new-found soul-mates
Frozen in time and space
Where nature blooms
The neighborhood pond where the toads
Out-scream the summer night
What else shall the fate of man be?
Than drift and lay

She flaunted her petals
Tortured the insurgent gonads
To peak on cascading mountains
As if they had raced a flight of stairs together
Now the earth is replenished
The germ seed of heavens pour
Age is not a logical thing

And then they broke up
Not knowing whereto after

Jambo i enjoyed reading your interesting posting! I see that you think that many gambian/euorpean relationships are based purely on sex and money! I think that you are probably right.

I see why you should ask if the european would act the same way when not in Gambia. So many times i see many old people acting totally wild with a young Gambian and i am very sure that they would not act in this way back home. This is ok if they only want a holiday romance, but not so good if they plan on a long term relationship.

I read your posting and thought alot about the things you said. I am not stupid with money and my man never asks me for anything. I asked him if he would like me to bring him anything and he replied he would rather i bought a present for his mother!

I think he is a good man, because he has his own opinion and beliefs and he stands up for them, he will not try to be someone he isnt. i like that! The most important thing in our relaitonship is our friendship and the way we can be different and still respect each others views. Yes we've been through troubled times, but we have come out of it stronger and having more respect for each other. He has taught me alot especially that love and respect makes you a much richer person than money does! Relationships based on money will never work!!!

Most of the women involved in 'sex tourism' (even as innocent victims)are having sex with MEN in their late 20s early 30s. They are not having sex with children and the large majority would have no interest in that.

If Gambia wasn't so concerned with the man being able to provide financially, these men could be happily married to Gambian girls. But Gambian girls tend to marry older men because they have the money to provide. So the younger men are left without their natural pairing.

The sex trade with men is very different. Men tend to travel to have sex with very young girls....Gambia, thailand etc.....This is a trade in sex that most men defiantely wouldnt risk doing at home and is fundamentally wrong.

Glad you agree, I had a relationship with a 30 year old Gambian guy, but I dont consider it to be part of the sex trade. It was 50:50, he wasnt a boy and actually I think he used me more than I used him. I would of liked it to be real and lasting.
