Gambia's Yahya Jammeh came to power by coup. (Fact) He governs as a dictator. (Fact) Now he aspires to be king (Yes/No). Is that what African system of Power-To-Da People mean?

He is closing all the avenues of free speech. The Independennt is closed and guarded, Citizen FM is closed, Journalist on the run. He has succeeded in clamping down of divergent opinions.

I dont think Karamba is the right person for your question. We are all just confused how to have access to him.

If only GRTS can broadcast other debates, you will see me on TV tomorrow morning.

May be you can where many have failed. Thats truly a good compliment. You seem to have good people skills in managing your boss. May be you should teach me.

May be i suffer from mental slavery.

Even if Jammeh swallows all the pumpkins of Gambian farmers, his cheeks could not be that big enough to fill the whole space of Arch 22. Yet he thinks he does not only own Gambia, but he in material is Gambia. The way he is behaving with that position is way too uncivilised. He commands the radio and television to make him news rather than news about Gambia. If people stay away from Gambia, that is not the same as Jammeh being owner of the whole space. He is suffering from possessive syndrome. His case of extremism is so acute that he will be left to dance around Gambia as the Emperor with his invisible clothes.

Kondorong made the point clear enough. Let Jammeh dump his killer weapons in the sea and sack TV mis-director Sanyang, free Citizen FM and see. We need just 24 hours of good broadcast to settle the message. For now, we have to stay in space. The day we land on that piece of land to restore DEMOCRACY Jammeh will not be the creature to break information flow. Can anyone be proud of a government of coup origin that is now mad about POWER? No !

It is sad that some selfish Gambians with dreaming souls blindly think this is a show to last. This is real shame. Nobody talked or wrote about Jammeh. It is because of his illegal grip of our national resources he stands to be diced and sliced. That is the benefit of being a broad day robber.

it is with a very heavy heart that i am writing this piece to enquire from our forum sister omega ,whether she is actually a gambian ?
if she is a Gambian then ,i can understand her blind following of jammeh. what i cannot understand is she constantly back the man come rain or shine ,this doesn't seems normal. even married couples have there bad days but sister omega never fail in her yaya defending .we are all patriotic gambians for God sake .yaya's silly songs of him been a patriotic gambian and any one who opposse him is unpatriotic is quiet stupid and have no place in a multi-party democratic society.
sister in as much as you may like all the polices of yaya ,but some times you need to understand not every word against yaya is a conspiracy to defame him .all true Gambians no matter their support level for yaya ,at some point realise not all that is said against him is a fabrication. i wish you see dictator's at work ,then may be sister you will realise what goes on in their head. people use to defend idi amin ,mangistu, mabuto, abacha and many other but their legacy stinks of human bodies. we need to stop this kind of support .this is why when civil war broke in any African country it takes unnecessary number of peoples lifes. i believe that you are a gambian ,only a true jammehrites can defend him even in his crimes.

Cant agree more. Democracy is about divergent views where each is allowed to speak and be heard and then voters make informed decsions.

It is that voting system and process the criminal regime coiled up. They don't mind how dirty the game is played. The means of communication for mass outreach is twisted and controlled. They know more than anyone why they fear being out of the rat holes where all the goods and money are kept. For Jammeh and his cohorts, it is not the love for Gambia but greed that keeps them bending this low.

To answer your question Santafara no I am not a Gambian. Neither am I a member of any political party. In all the years of commentating I have yet to see a viable political alternative for Gambia. The opposition seems to be very disorganised the one thing which united them was their hatred of the APRC and Jammeh imparticular. A nation cannot be built up on hatred alone. Political opponents need to have a clear vision which can stir the masses for a change in leadership, as yet the opposition has failed to deliver this.

There is no room either for complacency on behalf of the APRC because no system is perfect. There is a lot work still left to be done. Yes I agree with you that freedom of speech accompanied by responsibilism is needed. There is definitely room for divergent views etc. I do think the Media Commission should be ammended to facilitate divergent views, The Media does play an important role in developing the Nation on many different levels. Political evolution takes time. I don't think Jammeh is infallible and like everyone else he's made mistakes. But what I do see is that he is a progressive leader who is not afaird to think outside of the box. He has a clear vision and is a strong leader. He has delivered more in his tenor than his predecessor. Gambia has dramatically changed since he has come into power. And more importantly whether or not people agree with the results of the elections or not the Gambian people have voted him for the third time through the ballot box.

It is not for Jammeh to win the election for the opposition it is for them to win it for themselves.

Kon's as for Jammeh being my boss. Put it this way if he has a job for me he can contact me via my personal mail. Seriously Kon's have you tried e-mailing statehouse If not maybe it's a good place to start.

Peace

Hi Santanfara,
Dont you worry about Sister Omega, she is a Jamaican, who is at a lost. They dont understand African culture and civilization and normally associate themselves with everything european , but unfortunately they dont understand that neither. They are lost morally and culturally!
She is encouraging civil war in the Gambia. And when it breaks out, she doesn't want to know. By calling jammeh's killing of gambians development, by calling the fear that has gripped the nation development means she is totally ignorant of the gambian situation. Sister Omega, We Gambians know better how are people are suffering back home so please dont rub our wounds with salt.
