A review of figures from Serra Kunda Central recent elections portrays an interesting pattern for curious analysis.

Party(ies) Votes % of Votes

APRC 6386 - 52%
NADD/UNDP-NRP 5836 - 48% (NADD-4296 UDP/NRP- 1540)

Difference 550 - 4%

A safe conclusion is that when all the drumming and singing is gone, the APRC candidate will be taking a slippery walk of shame with only a narrow margin of 4% (whatever that means)

Karamba face facts even if APRC won by 1 vote they still won and they have nothing to be ashamed about. Serekunda Central lost faith in Sallah and decided to vote APRC shame doesn't come into it.

The BIG FACT everyone need facing is that APRC is a coup-led group. They have since continue playing all styles of D I R T Y and intimidating politics. Even after burying the pillars of decent democracy, they still need being sincere to PEOPLE. This is not about Halifa, UNDP, NRP or what you think of it. It is our country Gambia being robbed by armed men. Why did Jammeh not start it with a genuine, CLEAN political party? What was the urgency to have a COUP, tricked the population to blend that into the political fabric, and now stealing, killing, and wrecking the country? Do you still have a clean conscience to support a coup maker government? LET US PRAY FOR OUR FELLOW GAMBIANS KILLED JUST TO KEEP aprc in this brutal state of terror and banditory.

APRC are the legitimate government of The Republic of The Gambia. Period. Anyone who cannot face or accept that isn't facing reality but is living in a fantasy world.

Oh I don't know about that. I would rather use the word recognised rather than legitimate. 'He who comes to equity must come with clean hands'. If you know what that means.

Thanks

Nyarikangbanna and Karamba to recognize acknowledges the existence, validity or legality of formally acknowledge that (a country or government) is eligible to be dealt with as a member of the International Community. ( This definition comes from the Oxford Dictionary.)

So to recognize or legitimate in this case is down to semantics.
In 1996 (two years after the coup in 1994.) the first elections were held in Gambia. Since 1996 the APRC has won three consecutive elections. Therefore The Republic of The Gambia, APRC government existence is valid and its legality has been formally recognised as a LEGITIMATE Member of the International Community.

Recognise= Identify as already known, accept as true or existing, treat as valid, notice, show of appreciation

Legitimate= authorised by or in accordance with law, fairly deduced

[Collin Dictionary]

I am ok with the assertion that APRC is the internationally recognised government of the Gambia and can do things that any legitimate government would do but I would still use the word recognise rather than legitimate just like the US Ambassador did in 1996 having posited that the legitimacy of the regime is 'flawed'. That was his word, not mine.

There is a very important technical difference between the word 'Recognise' and 'Legitimate'.

Thanks
