Hi my dear kassma,
Yes women are powerful and they must stand up to that themselves. This starts from Adam and Eve.When they were thrown out of Heaven, they were separated and they started looking for each other. When they found one another, despite Eve was desperate to see Adam, with the power of restraint,God gave women to use,she pretends not to be.And when Adam said to her :"I have been looking everywhere for you",Eve replied in the negative and Adam kept following her until she accept to be with him.God gave Eve that power to control her weakness after her desperation to find Adam .You women still have that Eve attitude don't you?If men thought of women as weak and you[women] your selves accepts this, men will rejoice as men always want to control.

But what am telling you you know.Except if you blinded your self over it.

The power inside a woman cannot be challenged by any unless SHE allows it herself. If women could use these examples wisely, they ofcause will always control men,

You can only be penetrated by man who see in your eye{Except ofcause in a lawless place].
Men are scared when your eyed are red with anger,
Men can never be confortable when they know you are not at ease,
You talk of Africa,Women in Africa are abused because they allow some of those abuses to happen to them.

In civil war, nobody suffers than women and childreen. And instead of standing for each other[Forgetting that she is the victim today,I might be tomorrow], they allow them selves to be seprated, once someone is raped, her fellow women will be the first that would say....."SHE HAS BEEN SHAMED ".... thus abandoned her to be left at the mercy of her crazy husband. When instead they could stand by her tooth and nail as once one is victim, all can be some day.

Examples
(1)FGM,....Some women instead of rallying behind their fellow campaigners, they insult them helped by men.
(2)Early marriages,.......Some women would tell you too much education is not good for a woman.Infact a woman is best in her husband's house to seek heaven before becoming pregnant by somebody thus bringing shame opon the family.[These are words of men in women ears]
(3)Sharing your husband by him marrying annother,....Some women would tell you I would rather be a first than staying till am old for him to get a young one.I want him to do it now.Because I cannot stop him.No ask your self how comes Fanta is alone with her husband? How did she managed to be single?

You seems unable to use the power you have.
Only you can try to use it beause we men would never want to see you use it but once you try and never give up using it,we are always the ones to back down.
Just take an example of a woman who respects her self in society,
NO MAN DARES WRONG HER FOR THEY ALL SEE THE POWER IN HER
Also compare her with the one who let men misuse her by either through prostitution{not present trade prostitution]or becoming men's mistresses or sex tools,
EVERY MAN WILL TELL HIS COMRADE OH BOY DO YOU KNOW HOW SWEET SHE IS?

BUT MY DEAR WOMEN ARE REALLY POWERFUL.

Do you know what Mandinkas called "JARABI MUSOO" [everloved wife]?
No!You must understand,... men used that language not to show their weakness.
Its the power of those women they utilised over their husbands without quarrel or force but with their charm of the power God has given them.

I must stop here for am given you evrything and we want to retain the power you let us have over you.

peace
Janyanfara

what in the world was that Janyanfara? anyways, all your examples (to be blunt) are really weak. women turn against eachother because they can't turn against anyone else. if all your life you've been told to be a certain way to be accepted and you see someone else who goes against the grain, you point it out, outcast her cause it makes you feel better about yourself, its the same thing when people in general put down others, its because they are insecure. women from childhood are taught to compete with eachother because being beautiful is what counts the most, its what makes us worth something, so if your looks matter more than anything else, even you as a person, and you see other women who might look better than you, its only natural to be against them or say something negative against someone else to make yourself feel better.
us females are made to feel that having a man is the most important thing, and that is another source of competition with us women cause theres only a few good men out there and you want them for yourself since society won't accept/acknowledge you with a man.
also, women turn on other women just like blacks turn on other blacks, there is nobody else they can turn on. whites males abuse everyone they want to, including their women and people of other races cause they can. black men in turn abuse their women and people from their own race cause that's the only opening they have. women, espcially minority women, turn on eachother cause that's the only opening they have. everything is a dirty cycle.

Kassma there is always another side of the coin. it has been women who have fought aginst FGM and placed it on the top of the agenda in many African countries and have succeed to change public opinion. It has been women who have fought against early marriage and fought for the rights for girls to be educated. To embrace our sisterhood is a very powerful tool if we know how to use it.

Kassma, I applaud you! You really see things clearly and from a realistic point of view. No BS from you, just the pure truth straight up. And as we all know, truth hurts some people...

Wonderful sister omega,

Yes women stood up to the challenges facing them and did ofcause made a lot of changes.Yes yes yes. This was what I was trying to tell my sister but she seems not to listen.

Anywhere in the world, women stood up for their own rights and never gave up until they got them.
In Africa too, they must support their fellow activists to promote women rights.

If some one tells you that you are ugly and you believed him/her so much that it prevented you from going out, them you are your own enemy. Not the one who tells you you ugly.

For beauty lies in the heart[not in the eye] of the beholder.

I keep advocating for self determination and not to rely on other people's views to succeed.Because I talk from experiance my dear Gassma. Many used to say I was rude ect but not any more.

Hear my true story

I was born/brought up an Islamic family and was made to belief in every thing the clerics said without question. But when I grew up to maturity,I begin to question why my people kept giving morney and other things to those marabout families who are far far richer than us and they continued to become richer while we remained poorer and poorer I thought to my self if these muslim marabouts keep telling us Islam teaches equality and yet they coontinued their greed who should I belief[My parents kept telling me"Look Son these people are very close to God they are from great people...WOOLIEUS" and when I asked why not us if we are all sons/daughters of Adam? They replied "ye but its different you don't understand". They were right I never understood],When I couldn't stop them,I thought of finding my own quest for truth. Then one day I happened to notice and read some verses from the Holy Quran in which

God said (on coate).

(1)"KNOW ME B4 YOU WORSHIP ME.YOU CANNOT WORSHIP IF YOU DON'T KNOW ME"
(2)"SEEK KNOWLEDGE ITS IS INCUMBENT UPON EVERY FAITHFUL"
(3)"EVERY SOUL WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR HIS/HER OWN ACTION"

Knowing I am matured now and would be responsible to God for my own actions,I stopped relying on my parents or the marabouts and I started reading to know God!My sister,I started thinking.."if God sent all the other prophets, why the difference?I made up my mind not to be disuaded by any body in my quest to find the truth. So I went on seeking knowledge,I went to a bible school in Bakau and(Despite thousands and thousands of insults and threats from relatives and others),I never gave up until I had my diploma. Now I am doing other religions too.

I now am learning to know God from many angles.Which I believed God created me for.No one will decide for me because if there is any hereafter,no one will be ready to take my responsibilities before God

If I had been scared from the begening,I woud not have known what I now knew.

Belief me some of those hypocretes and parasites who were whispering and putting evil thoughts into my parents are now turning to me accusing each other of which I have no interest in.I ofcause thanked my mum during those hard days of my carrier decision making.

You got to be self determined to get to the heights as your fellow European and Other women of other regions.

peace

Janyanfara I have alot of respect for your searching and questioning. If you return to the Muslim faith after all that searching it is a much stronger faith than if you just obidently follow.

I have no problem with thoughtful people choosing a faith, in the same way that I have chosen humanism. I do have a problem with people being indoctrinated, or unquestioningly following a faith. Education is the key to this. The more educated Gambians become, the less hold over them the traditions and religion will have.

Janjafara, seriously i see your point, but do you see my point, have you considered my points. i'm not just talking about believing what people say about you, i'm saying us women are socialized to be a certain way and that's hard to leave or change because that means changing everything you know. i would not be thinking like this if i was born and raise all the way till adulthood if i stayed in Gambia, but not everybody has an out of culture experience. and i didn't change because i was in america, i changed because i was really isolated from both cultures and was able to really think for myself how i thought things made sense. just try to see what i'm saying, think about why women help everybody but themselves, why everywhere you hear about women getting beaten, raped and disrespected, just consider what i'm saying.

Well jambo,
I had a christian name I was given by my best friend a priest and teacher.I defeated many born in to the Faith christians{for at the school, only those who know me and my friend [the priest]knew I was born a muslim.Everybody else thought I learned christianity when I was very young. But today I am Mr Human Rights,{Janyanfara}.

To answer your question,

I went to Banjul Bible Training School in Bakau just nearly opposite the road to the stadium. On your left when going towards the Daily observer office, right on the high way.

And sister Gassma,
ya I saw your point well in the begening but I don't want others feel weak due to your comment. We campaigners are doing every thing to put women at our forefront for their right.Every body is born by a woman and no one hates his/her mother. So belief another girl may be or become somebody else's mother.

I will tell you another true story{I witnessed in Cassamance{Southern Senegal}
A Boy who complained continuesly to elders about his father's constant beating of his mother when ever the mother quarrelled with the dad's new wife who was younger than the boy.Despite many pleas from elders for the dad to at least respect his son's wishes not to figh his mother in his presence, the Dad turned a deaf ear.

It so happened thatthe Dad's very very old mother was at home with the family and the Boy thought of the pain he has been going through at the way his mother has been treated,One day as the father was beating his mother, the Boy went to fetch a stick and came without warning,he hit the old woman{the Dad's mum who shouted at the top of her voice above the crying of the Boy's mother. When the father heard his mother shouting and crying for help,he immidiately stopped beating his wife and ran to his mother to enquire what was wrong? While he ran to his mother, the Boy also stopped beating his grand mum and ran to his own mother. As the father knew what had happened,He angrily came towards the Boy and the Boy ran away and stood just few feet from the Father and swore to him :

"I swear any time you beat my mother again,I will also beat your mother and you will loose your old mother if you don't stop beating my mother."

That was the end othe the beating of the Boy's mother and thus his mother gained her freedom.
