ON JAARAMA BOOYE ONON FOFFE. (Thank you all)

Been busy and Yoro bawol is flooded. I appreciate all the comments.

Karamba is right, I do browse sometimes but in haste. To sister Omega, i have my cattle on high ground in Yoro bawol. But we need saline solution for any potential cholera issues. So pass by the health center and the nurses will appreciate your supplies.

Moe, the COOS is tending to his cattle. Rememeber its the rainy season and i am planning for the annual migration of my cattle to more grassy parts of the hinterland. This is called HEK or HEKO in mandinka. i will probabaly be going to Maatam area. Fouta Toro proper. Cant wait to see my tall, slim, beautiful, slender, fulani sisters with their calabashes on their heads comig from the WOORO after an encounter with JAAKEH and LACHIRI. (WOORO is the cattle ranch where the cows come home for the night. JAAKEH is the that yellowish milk from a cow that is almost weaning an old calf. the milk is sweet and only the owner drinks that milk. Its the pride and honor of a herdsman. Only trusted friends can have the priviledge to drink this kind of milk. LACHIRI is coos coos)The wolof call it CHEREH CHAKA. This different from CHEREH LALO.

I therefore dedicate this song by Baaba Maal, which was dedicated to the women of Fouta for their drive in development. Later in the song baaba was talking about his first wife leaving him and praying to God to turn him into a golden bird and made a gift to his first wife. I am also asking God to change me to a golden bird for a moment as a gift to you all. Enjoy the music. SI ALLAH JABBI, MI ROO TOT ( If God Wills, i will be back)

Turk, Prince , Toubab, Sankhajang, Janko, am deeply humbled. The walking encyclopedia are the members here. I have learnt alot here and this place is sacred ground for many well seasoned citizens. I fear to thread on "holy" ground and thats why am watching from a distance but memorising every foot note.

When two elephants fight, its the grass that suffers. Being a grass, i can only hope the elephants like you will be considerate to a small midget like me.

I feel like being pampered. Good to know one is missed.

Kons, please don't put yourself down, those who you mention above are not elephants and you are not a midget, you are seriously valued here and we all missed you,we now appriciate that you are very busy and have problems to deal with that are much more important than our ramblings here on bantaba which has provided all of us with a very valuable resource to exchanging views and point out thoughts for others to consider.
Don't be a stranger Kons.

Toubab

I can never be too busy for you guys. Far from it. Nor is bantaba less important. Somtimes it just so happens that Yoro Bawol has no electricity, and my cranky dynamo which generates static electricity for the lap top to to spring to life finally gave up on me. I was being envoronmentally conscious and was influenced by Al Gore's movie" The Incovenient Truth". But be rest assured that my absence is in no way to be understood as bantaba being less important. This is family now and like they say, you cannot choose your family. You are born into it.

Okay Toubab lets get into some folklore stories and maybe you will understand what a Coos is all about. The Coos has a a "Lekett", Any man capable of catching and wrestling a midget will be rewarded with the "Lekett" calabash of cash there is everlasting riches, money and Gold also mind you the Coos can disappear!! so think about it for a minute. The Coos ain't no ordinary midget, he got magical powers Touby. Don't let his humbleness fool ya Alkalo1020 So far I ain't seen anyone with a Lekett from a Coos." MOE good to see you back, thanks for the folk law lesson I must say I was baffled , what is being talked about here ?,"cous cous " no can't be,understand now ,maybe I will find a "lekett" bit unfair to wrestle a little person (as the americans would say) and steal his though. From the writings of Kons it would appear that the utube item would be useful to him.

It's great to have you back Kondorong!

As I'm getting ready to leave the Big Smoke (UK) and touch down in Gambia very soon. I'm looking forward to getting out of the concrete jungle, and going back home to commune with family, friends and mother nature. Yes, I'm going to be checking on the cows, no doubt I'll see a lot of sheep and goats too. Maybe I'll see a few hippos and chimps as well who knows.

I'll be visiting Senegal but not heading North to Futa. However you can give me some more info about the situation there.

Any Guys take it easy and if I have time. I'll drop you all a line, electricity allowing.

Peace

Sister Omega

Big welcome to you Kondorong,

With the confidence that you are watching down, there is reason to stay very hopeful. That slot from Baaba Maal is good stuff you so kindly passed on.

Any line of post from you is larger than the space it fits in. Thank you for responding at all.

To Sister Omega, keep us posted while still on your trip. Have a very joyful time.

I like Baaba Maal. I guess one has to come from Futa or live among them to appreciate his music. The context is very important. It sends chills down my spine yearning for yester years. Your postings are well treasured.

There is one line by Nyaringkabanna where he refers to halifa as the "Ayatollah of PDOIS" supporters if i may paraphrase. Every time i wake up in the morning, i am reminded by this phrase and cannot but laugh. Many similar cases are abound. Turk is one of them and so is Njuks, Kjatta, and Moe always adding good flavor when ever banataba is quiet or seems to slumber.

Thats why i like democracy. It allows free expression and only then can society begin to take off. But it also requires one to accept criticism when pointed to and the willingness to accept it and do something about it. No one person has a claim to righteousness or perfection. So we must learn from others.

I will take leave, but will be frequenting as time permits.
