Pappa whatever happened Spain and Morroco should be investigated for murder and ''torture''. i remember the incident where they shot some of these poeple.shooting at unarmed civilians is illegal even in Spain. its very likely that crimes are being committed under international law.
however it is ironic that 50yrs ago european boats were coming to west africa encouraging people to emigrate to Europe to rebuilt it after WWII and 15yrs before that actually carrying African troops to fight for King & Empire.
but the root problem is the Poverty in Africa. |

On the front of the papers yesterday in uk were pictures of a boat of migrants from West Africa arriving to Los Cristinanos in Tenerife. Some are very ill, some die on the journey. Mainly young men.
From Tenerife they make their way to Spain and from Spain on to UK.
If they knew the reality of what they were coming to perhaps they wouldnt do the journey. But perhaps they are so desperate they would still try.
It is very sad that people think this is their only choice in life.
I havent heard stories of them being shot in Spain.....but theya re getting desperate at how to deal with the situation so anything is possible. I know from the news reports that Morroco deals very harshly with people it catches. Supposedly to deter others from deciding on the same path. |

| Oh yeah, I totally agree with you Njucks, most definitely what the Spanish & Moroccan security forces are doing is totally undone, their actions are inhumane and unexcusable. No matter what the situation is, one should not torture or shoot at innocent people, especially unarmed ones. The rate of influx of immigrants on that side of the equation is about the same as the US is facing at the Mexican border right now, yet still, you don't here about the US Border Patrols shooting at the immigrants. Usually, the immigrants died on their own through starvation, dehydration, etc. They (Spanish & Moroccan Gov'ts)definitely need to be held responsible for such horrible actions indeed. I can understand their frustration of the uncountable numbers of immigrants trying to penetrate their countries, but, there're proper channels into handling such things. |

thanx for that link. i think the "immigrantphobia" (if you would please excuse me to use this term) is and should be a concern for all of us. today i was talking to my elder siblings at home and they were very concerned about me. they were telling me about things they see on news in France, U.S and some other Western countries. everybody knows the reality behind this.
i began to have a glimpse of the conspiracy when i took a look at the expansion of the EU. its true that Western Europe needs immigrants, but at the same time, they don't need black AFrican immigrants. No government will go out of its way to say they want immigrants but only immigrants from within the EU. but in the implementation of immigration laws, one doesn't have to be a nuclear scientist to figure out the game plan.
everyday, all we hear is about sub-saharan africans being eaten by the monsterous waves of the Mediterranean. it hurts, its disgraceful, its dehumanizing.
Europe has used Africa until they can't use us no more, France being among the worst and the most racist colonial masters. after the second world war, lots of Africans were brought to Europe to rebuild it. with their blood and sweat, they helped erect the concrete pillars on which modern-day europe stands. today, what are their children's remunerations? hatred!!
"Far right parties" as they are called in Europe,(but i call them Nazi parties) are gaining grounds everywhere. Who do they hate? not the Polish immigrants, not the Bulgarian immigrants, not the Yugoslav immigrants. Its subsaharan Africans and Asians they hate to see.
i think the only solution to this problem is for us to go back home and work harder. its going to be a sin for us to have children who will have to migrate to Europe to live the same lives (if not even worst) as we are going through. Europe might be a fortress today, but what they are using to keep us out, will keep them in the fortress. |

Born african yesterday i watched a documentary about the French Interior Minister Nicoli Sarkozy who is currently touring west africa to promote his ''immigration bill'' which if passed will 'effectively' end immigration from Africa. i quote by translating him
'' Africa accounts for less than 2% of french trade, France doesnt need Africa''....
this from a French minister. i couldnt't believe it. Africa is why France is in the security council. i don't know any part of the world where there is a stronger French infleunce, militarily,culturally etc apart from Africa and Quebec!!! only in Africa is French a dominant Language.
infact during the WWII the french government-in-exile was based in Africa as it fought the Nazis. not to mention the thousands of WWII veterans who left their wives and family under colonialism to fight for Liberte, Eqalite et Fraternite and are still alive to hear this insult. but that exactly the point, because we have spent the last 40 yrs of post independence killing, fighting , stealing we are not respected.
i agree with you about our children , if we have the conviction that we should give them a better life than we had then things will change. |

i know the "far right" party is not liked by most people in England. i am so greatful for being given the opportunity to be in England and studying. without a doubt, the "immigration timebomb" will go off here in England. In other European countries like France, the Nazi party represents the majority. the same goes for other European countries.
politicians are trying to gain grounds on immigration here in England. they are making people angry with immigrants. the truth is that they themselves are not going to benefit from it. its parties like BNP that is going to benefit.
another strong institution in England is the media. infact, its the most powerful institution in this country. it can bring down any person no matter how powerful. most people in this country believe in what they read and some of the papers are too conservative and even move towards the far rights. this week the hot topic is about a top immigration official trying to go out with a Zimbabwean assylum seeker. it is the phrase "assylum seeker" that all papers use and this hurts people because all asylum seekers are seen as leeches sucking people through state benefits.
Tony Blair and labour party are becoming the most hated in this country. the media is relentlessly on their neck with immigration issues. the media is trying to bring about a kind of revolution here in England and they are winning. its just a matter of time. its happened in other parts of Europe. i have been in England for a long time and i have been paying close attention to immigration issues. the winds of change are blowing right across the western world. i am not blaming you Bev and other British. England or any other European country has all rights to shut its borders to immigrants. i am just trying to point out that its not being done in a fair manner.
I blame ourselves most of the time. maybe we have to look back at Africa and start correcting the errors. this could only be done through hard work and not just talking here at the Bantaba. |

i swear the French are some of the worst people in Europe. do u know in France, racism is so open that they even differentiate white French and colored french? white french are called "Les Francaise" (meaning the French). others are not, even if they hold french passports.
Njuks, you see that "i d i ot" Nicoli Sarkozy will say that in the face of donkey African leaders and they will clap for him. some African leaders don't deserve living. France is the most active European country (up to this very moment) in Africa's economics and politics. Did they forget that they still regulate the CFA for francophone countries. Anyway, i think the French are honest as well. They have hit the nail on the head by saying "no African immigrants". i think other European countries are being hypocrites by showing smiling faces and telling sweet words to immigrants and hating them inside. Njuks, this is a tragedy for Africans. We need to go back and work for a better tomorrow for our children. i would rather die than have children who will come to hustle in Europe. its not fair. i have no grudges against Europeans, but the way they used Africa to build their economies only to turn back and slap us in the face, hurts me. we played part in it as well. our brainless leaders who had and still have no foresights are ruining our lives. |

| Hello BornAfrica, just like to give my perspective. I live in one of the most deprived areas in the North east of England (the 3rd most deprived area in the country) People here are more likely to suffer from Ill health and be educationally disadvantaged. The police have said that there has been an increase (I think it was 154 percent increase) in racist incidents in this area, and i personally believe its caused by some newspapers which are encouraging anti- refugee hysteria. We read of refugees comming over and living the high life, which in turn makes people disgruntled,(of course thats no excuse for racism) especially in this area, where housing and health are generally poor and unemployment is high. The population is I would say 95 percent white, but over the last couple of years i have seen a big increase in refugees being placed in this area. The BNP has been eager to capatalise on these feelings, but thank goodness even though they have stood in local elections and contested 25 wards, they have not won a single seat. But can I say that the majority of people who live here are "salt of the earth" working class, unfortunatly its the minority who cause the problems. |

Why is the Blackman despised especially in Europe ? What is our crime? I used to visit the UK on short holidays before coming to study here. I didn't notice then the hatred and racism in this country. There are places here in the UK where a black man can't reside. Children jeer at you, stone you. If you are unfortunate to own a car that's even worse. Wake and find that your windsreen had been smashed etc. I need not mention the places but the fact remains that Racism is alive and kicking.
Am scared! What a shame! |

I don’t think there is racism or tribalism. My believe is that we as humans, have survival instincts to discount others so that we could live comfortably on the limited resources. Therefore even in the Gambia, even though we are of the same race, we use tribes, but even within tribes we use bloodlines and even within bloodlines we still discriminate.
Racism is just a manifestation of this natural instinct to discount and survive. Even among Caucasians, they discriminate among themselves. The examples of the Irish, Italians and others in the US confirm this. However, they would prefer an Irish to a Black but if another Caucasian appears, then the Irish is discounted. The discounting will continue until you are the only one left to eat the cake. THEREFORE THE ONLY PERSON WHO LOVES YOU IS YOURSELF. EVEN PARENTS WILL DISCOUNT YOU WHEN IT GETS TO A POINT WHERE THEIR VERY SURVIVAL IS AT STAKE. HOW DO YOU THINK WE HAD THE LOST BOYS OF THE SUDAN? THE DID NOT DROP FROM THE SKY. THEY HAD MOTHERS AND FATHERS SOME OF WHOM DIED OFCOURSE, BUT OTHERS FLED AND LEFT THEM BEHIND.

I strongly beg to differ. I have never seen people subjected to inhumane treated as is done to the black. Maybe my case is different. Why are monkey chants done to blacks? If we as some doctrine has that we all originated from apes, why is the blackman the only associate with the mokey/ape? Why are jobs given to certain people and other refused because of the colour of their skin.
Kons lets not sweep it under the carpet. How will you explain the killing of black african students in Russia? How would you explain Apartheid in South Africa? How would you explain black slaves in Mauritania?
At times its just too much for me. When will the black race know peace? Slavery, Colonialism, Racism the list just goes on and on. I think BornAfrican's suggestion of us going back is the best thing. How would you feel to be spat at because of your skin? how do you feel when trash is thrown at you? How do you feel when an area of your locality is no-go for you because of your skin? How do you feel when a landlord refuses to let because of your colour? Kondorong am yet to be convinced that there is no racsim maybe in your world. |

| YES Kondorong,there is racsim i remember leaving my job because of racism.Black people are being Kill just because they are BLACK in uk and around the world.Its a fact known that some police officer in uk are RACIST which makes me sick |
