Madiba, no one is a pig here. You can't call your inlaw (Lurker) a racist either. |

Ok Madiba. Lurker, don't call people an ass!
I sense a lot of tensions these days here. |

Sir, I did not equate any dignified Gambian to stray dogs... My statement or argument is a criticism of the logic of awarding such a highly prestigious national award usually reserved for well deserving people to the "Military Wives' Association" and to "Telephone Operators". I even mentioned myself as one who deserve it too... Did you get it???
You didnt equate our dignified to animals. the lowly Lurker did. Tell me someone like essa sarr who had served Gamtel honestly and diligently for close to 20yrs doesnt he deserve recognition? the military wives association , i definitely dont know how the board or people responsible for the shortlisting came to that decision. Looking at the list in all honesty i have seen names of poeple who had selflessly served gambians and humanity for decades. since you have worked at agric before. does the name John Faye ring a bell?
Madiss, if you give such a prestigious national award to a well-deserving person like John Faye and then you turn around and give the same award to "Military Wives' Asso" and a "Telephone Operator"; then you might as well give to Lamin or Modou(the popular security guards at Saint Augustines). MY point is that you don't give the Nobel Prize to the groundbreaking scientist and then also give it to the lab assistant. The award gets watered-down, and the whole point becomes ridiculous... |

Kay, the awards cut across all levels of society, from the farmer to the highest civil or military officer. What you suggest, looks like elitist. I would have recommended Lamin of Saints for one of those awards. Atleast for a long and dedicated service to education in the gambia. The awards are categorised by level.
Your earlier suggestion that the awards are meant to entice or lure votes for the ruling party come 2011 is laughable! Can dead men vote? can no Gambians and men/women of God like Rev. Mathias Murphy of Saints vote?
Kay i know you are well educated, so please contribute positively to this bantaba rather than wasting precious time and space throwing around innuendoes. |

Ok sounds good buddy . Hey Madiss, you know I was looking for anyone among the awardees who might reject the award in protest of the Gambia's dissastrous human rights record; but I guess there is none. What a disappointment!! |
