How many times did you hear that some Tom, Dick, Harry, Mrs. Pig and donkey, Ms. Rabbit, or something like that is ushered into the Gambia's State House to meet with the doctor and professor of showmanship, President Jammeh under the glaring cameras of the Daily Observer newspaper and the Gambia Radio and Television Services (GRTS)? In almost every occasion, all these undeserving guests in our State House are reported by the propaganda machine, the Daily Observer to have pledged their "support and solidarity" to the Gambian leader. Well yesterday it was the charming Vivian, the goddess from Fabecs Promotions and the beauty contestants, and the dreaded smokey-head, Sizzla; today it is Ouza who apparently came to grace the 50th anniversary of Gambia High School but ended up at the State House anyway with his daughter where Jammeh and two cabinet ministers all spoke about their 'multiple love relationships' with the Senegalese singer, like they always do with every visitor. In almost all these cases, it is almost certain that money is exchanged of course under the table between the President and these unscrupulous visitors and their recalcitrant hosts. Jammeh will definitely pay for loyalty any how he can. I guess talent does not yield money any more in the Gambia. It is only praise-singing and sycophancy. Isn't it time that we restore class, respect, and dignity to our State House? You know I liked Ouza and his muisc, his socialist views and defense of the common people; but what have these uncommon guests got to do with our State House? Can't Gambia High School celebrate their event without the President stealing the limelight? Is there any distinction between the private and the State in the Gambia? Does the President have to grace every event with his presence and speech? Is there any hope for ending corruption in the Gambia? Does the Gambia government, I mean the President and his Ministers have anaything better to do?

A fitting touch to the status quo, unfortunately. However, it is worth noting with all the national and international focus on the crumbling APRC administration, and their show of injustices and human dehumanization, the only game they can truly play is 'buying time,' added to pretense or attention-seeking, like it is there -like they are in control of the state's steering wheel; like there is love, trust and confidence within the corridors of power; like they are the trees' canopy protecting the citizens from sun burns and torrential rains. Unfortunately, this is fake. Totally fake! They have lost the state's steering wheel; and innocence, confidence, virginity, hope, and faith has been truly lost. The APRC administration is standing on its last rotten ground root. It is just a matter of time before Jammeh either commits suicide, or he will seek to take refuge in another country. The later is more than likely, as he loses control of the Military forces which is his only reliance then.

| I like Jammeh's approach. He is not isolated. He is accessibale. Part of the community. Praise him. |
diaspora! Too many Chiefs and Very Few Indians.
Halifa Salah: PDOIS is however realistic. It is fully aware that the Gambian voters are yet to reach a level of political consciousness that they rely on to vote on the basis of Principles, policies and programmes and practices. |

Certainly, an idle statehouse will give awards to people -those that deserve it and those that don't. It is to be noted well in a dictatorship that deserving decoration or recognition is just based on pleasing Jammeh. Whatever that means! In any case, I hope the killers of Deyda and Chief E. Manneh are not among that long list?
Awards! Awards! Awards!....from an idle state house. Some of them will be stripped-naked when Jammeh is gone.

Kay,
Yaya is simply playful to be called president. He is the most idle person to be housed in that state building. What do you expect. Tom Sawyer would have made a better leader than this buffoon. |
