i feel like the older generation has let us down and are really not worth much. since i am Gambian, was born and raised there, i know most of you are about to have a heart attack from what i'm going to say. but honestly, like we love to say, saying the truth pleases God, but the older generation, 35 and up i would say, have let us down, us meaning the younger generation. first of all, jawara sat for 30 years, did nothing, and that was fine by yall, in 1994, jammeh came, killed people and yall still wanted him because he was young and new.

i'm stunned at the fact that now, everybody is talking about how he killed people when he got into office, and here i was thinking that he only started his killing spree now. and worst, we young people can't even do anything cause the older generation is not only influencing us negatively with their love of gossip and waiting for God to do everything for us, but also, we literally can't do anything cause the family speaks against it, or says that you going to die, having large family meetings for no reason. the thing is, and the older generation needs to realize this, getting a dictator, which you guys did create(you are the one that shows others how they can treat you, if its okay for him to kill in 1994, he thinks its okay to kill now) is never going to be easy and God certainly is not going to magically make jammeh disappear. jammeh leaving will probably never be peaceful, what dictator is going to let a peaceful election rob him of his power, whatever...

Kassma, you've come up with baseless comparative studies. The older generation--say Sir Dawdas era--peoples' arms and limbs were not chopped off and buried in latrines. Your generation and peers are brutal rulers, just look at Gambia today.

Age does not count but the level of maturity is more important. We need very reponsible and sober leaders!

It doesn't make sense to blame one or the other generation, because the general situations cannot be compared. In the colonial and postcolonial era the 'enemy', the colonialists, was outside. It was much easier than today for Africans to stay solidary.

I think Africans (and African rulers) internalized the brutality and oppression the colonialists committed to them, and maybe unknowingly still regard themselves worthless. Nothing else could explain the incredible brutality of Africans against their own people.

Let it be known that am not the one playing the generation card. Please read Kassma's piece on page 4 for verification. I miss Sir Dawdas era just for onething, his opponents were not clandestinely murdered and buried in graves where even rabies infected dogs were not buried. Call a spade a spade. Kassma is the one blaming the older Gambian generation unjustifiably. Dont take me to task, take Kassma instead.

Kayjatta, if Kobo is tired and mesmerzed by this horrendous reality of Gambia today, let him(Kobo) appeal to Momodou. I didnt author the piece, i just forwarded it. If he (Kobo) cant see that then he needs specs to read with.

Bamba, I did not mean to put the blame on you. I read kassma's posting (sometimes, she is a little bit of a hothead), and I just thought the generation question is misleading. We have to look at the different historical situations, that's all.

A joke: A horse enters a pub. Bartender: "Why the long face?" Booooh...

hey dont point fingers Bamba. Kassma does not take that sitting down. (laugh). I think the bantaba should send her to talk sense into yaya. She is very blunt and direct. May be she can be of help and awaken Jammeh from slumber.

Is he still limping from his injuries or is he now snubbed by Junkung. Sankofa must be scared now beacuse the five star hotel is now a thorough fare and he is afraid he might be sent there on a free ride and perhaps never come back.

As if i dont know, Kassma takes nothing lying down. But she is so sporadic. Whenever she is online she explodes in anger she must have picked up from heaven knows where. Angers are to be ventilated and Bantaba is the right place.
