Someone brought this to my attention. Some might be suspicions of another false Western propaganda against the Chinese but some of the glaring facts cannot and should not be ignored. African natural resources are as limited as they are finite, it is time our leader get to grip with reality.
Is it really our business to try to act as missionaries of purity?
Britain's own adventures in Africa were not specially benevolent, although many decent men did what they could to enforce fairness and justice amid the bigotry and exploitation.
It is noticeable that in much former British territory we have left behind plenty of good things and habits that are absent in the lands once ruled by rival empires.
.... if you've lived in the UK you will know that Peter Hitchens is a very sharp critic, not just of Africa but UK politicians as well. he can be very harsh.
However, whilst some of what he wrote is true, its very convenient to forget one's own colonial past (crimes), to potray them as achievements and build upon this illusion to even judge one's own record as relatively stainless.
Western companies are engaged in some of the worst environmental and human right abuses on the continent and this for some reason does not seem to attract the attention of Western journalist.
a good example is Oil pollution on the Niger Delta wetlands. Recently we saw a French NGO kidnapping Africa children. this was juts the tip of the iceberg, and it passes with little comment from the Western Media.
they should try and write more balanced and less alarmist stories driven by the fear of loosing out on Africa's wealth.
