Isn't it time to jubilate when Gambia's opposition come together in the manner they did?

Bro Shaka,
I wasn't targetting you on a April-fool. It was meant to get Uncle Suntou. ....hahaa!
How would life without humor look like? Honestly a boring one at that. I ask to be forgiven especially where people were quoted, for it was strictly an April fool piece. I confess that the quotes attributed are typical of what they could utter. I understand it can make others very excited. The trap was for a friend of mine, a good mentor and very political. His concern for a united opposition knows no bounds. As soon as the story posted, I put him on the phone, and directed him to follow the news story while on the phone with me. I could hear him say a hundred times ‘Chaa Gambia rechuunah’ before getting to the bottom of the piece. To all those that enjoyed it as a supplication for a united opposition, I say ‘amen’ and May Almighty God destine it.

You got to be careful with these jokes, some people have weak hearts. It is the equivalent of telling the Pullo gainako that one of his cows is being auctioned in the village Lumoo. What follows then would be ten cassettes worth of Fula expletives as he dash to the village Lumoo even though it is a Sunday and the village Lumoo is closed. The simple thing to have been done instead was to count his herd to see if any cow was missing. But then again Fula gainakos lose the ability to count when they are in a CHALIT mode. He would going "GOO, DIDI, TAATI, NAAY....damn it i forget to count the blue cow, now i have to start all over again!! GOO, DIDI, TAATI, NAAY........God am going to kill the that yellow cow, it never stays in the queue order when you are counting, alway jumps the queue and mess up the whole order, nowi have to start all over yet again. GOO, DIDI, TAATI, NAAY.....". "Steady Baba steady, i know you can do it" said his innocent little son. "Shut up you little parrot, now i have lost my concentration and have to start all over again just because you think you have a smart mouth" By the time the Fula gainako finally finished counting it was well past the TIMIS prayers and its all your fault Dalton. |

Bro Shaka,
You killed me with this humor of yours. Sure, it does resonate a lot. I will pay back this humor in full. I will take heed next time. See, my Uncle Suntou, confessed to the trap as well.
Alawys a good watch-man bro Shaka, sound judgment like an old mathematician..If the mawdo pullo mumbles continually on that counting, it shows how deeply lost.
See you all soon again.

Mawdo Yero great humor in this stressful environment. You know though on a serious note, this might be a coincident but it appears some wind of change is breezing in some parts of Africa today. If Mugabe leaves and Botswana's President is stepping down, this might be a sign of a new dawn for real.
When the wind of change blows no one can stop it. The colonialist were driven unexpectedly in Africa during the struggle for Independence. So yes, this is humors but Mawdo Yero might be hinting something from Jola Kunda Foni.
I think our people have suffered enough and humiliated so much that they deserve some cool breeze of progress blowing their way.
How I wish Africa rises to the ocasion and all its brutal dictators start stepping down with or without a reason. How I wish the lord finally brings sanity and human decency to our leadership. How I wish for that final call for Africa to rally around and unite as ONE. I will continue to pray.
One day it will happen...

Bro. Kanibaa,
Thanks always for your humorous postings. Some of them funny with real meaning. I am a keen follower. Count me as a fan always.
With the April-fool piece, I could imaginarily see your likes dancing to a fiddle, just like I will dance to a ‘bukarabuu’ drum. ‘Kunifaanaw, hula kay fonii.’ In the ending of the ‘new dawn’ piece, it just saddens the true patriots that it was an April-fool with a deep message. When there is life, there is hope.
Bro. Kanibaa, I know you enjoyed ‘The New Dawn.’ Either way, it matches a good prayer. If not for a new dawn, heck! Why do I have to know or interact with your likes or unlike? We are at ‘el-d’goree.’ There is no turning back. Those that need help should not be ignored either. Those that cannot comprehend must be made to understand context fully. The hearts must be healed to grease loose. From there, the birth of unity will emerge afresh. Please continue keeping your pen sharper than it is already.
Thanks though, I am running-a-rack but will debate it further. I think there is a lot of wisdom behind the piece. I had a lot of calls and e-mails regarding the piece.
Kind regards, Dalton.
In all honesty, you have to be at some level to get it. At least loosening grease in your heart. If ones' heart cannot grease loose, then a special section Surah Bakarah (The Cow) describes them, thus: ‘deaf, dumb and blind.’ At that level, healing is inevitable for such individuals with a seal on the heart. But until a clown touches the tail of a scorpion, it remains a play toy to try to twist. It is clear again the problem is either comprehension or exessive complexity ---the critics of 'new dawn.' Bro Shaka, you got your fortune-telling once again. haha... At least, I will not get petty with mine.

God what a JOKe. I see it as a wish to could have made a sensible newyear resolution for opposition leaders.
Kaaniba
could imagine your buukarabuujumps or NGA NYAAY. hahahaha

Gainakos of old dnt count their cattle loud. They just murmur the numbers to themsleves. In the process only the lips move NO figures are said aloud. Thats meant to scare the (Jola or Serrer) thief hiding in the nearby bushes. They are scared of the Gainko, becos they believe of old that these murmurs are DANGEROUS PROTECTIVE INCANTATIONS against the theft of his cattle.

True Madiba, but not when a Gainako is in a CHALIT mode. They use their shepherd sticks as pointer while breaking every decibel level shouting at the top of their voices. Just wish the Jola and the Serere where there to bust the murmur myth, then every day will be an April Fools day. |

Bro Madis,
Thanks. I laughed too furiously. Don't you tell me the april-fool piece got you as well, when the day before the post, we discussed about april fool here. That was signal that something was in the oven for you all lot out there.
Bro shaka got me on this one. spot on! Don't you see the 'chickens coming home to roost' before dawn of the 5th day. If 'sense of humor' cannot be understood from a piece like that, then what next can be understood? At least not the real deal. I understand the frustration of the critics of 'The New Dawn' 'Achuu nam hakkeh'/hakoh boi nyeh In it is a powerful message, thus:
-Unity among opposition parties -an independent presidential candidate -a first 5-year reign -equal voice -the challenge it posed to all -hope of unity -et cetera
If a shepherd thinks the cows are too many, they can't murmur it inside. Trust me, that charming stick will point like bro Shaka noted.
In conclusion, don't count on cows that you don't have. At least not yet, especially when the loose surrogates cannot compromize the values expressed.
All said, mine was only humor. The many that didn't get it should take this one as only that -humor. Otherwise, they are likely to fall a victim of lacking in sense of humor.
Regards, Dalton.

"TOGETHER WE STAND DIVIDED WE FALL!"
Thanks Dalton for KEEPING THE BALL ROLLING on your APRIL FOOLS DAY JOKE. Its more than an EXPENSIVE JOKE but VERY INSPIRING & CONSTRUCTIVE TO SPEARHEAD WHAT MOST OF US ARE ALWAYS YEARNING FOR; TACTICALLY/STRATEGICALLY UNIFYING & SUPPORTING ALL OPPOSITION PARTIES TWARDS THE COMMON GOOD
Would like to re-call that link, courtesy of Gainako.com archives under http://gainako.com/fejango/Issue~221-2008/
Upon REFLECTION I came to the CONCLUSION THAT EXTENDING DAY ONE OF APRIL (FOOLS DAY) LEADS US TO REMEMBRANCE & COMMEMORATION OF OTHER FATEFUL APRIL DAYS (10th/11th) IN THE ANNALS OF GAMBIAN POLITICS. Therefore credit goes to Dalton in INSPIRING US AT BEGINNING OF APRIL and steering the on-going debate TOWARDS A UNITED NATIONAL FRONT & WHATEVER UNITY ALL OPPOSITION PARTIES (ACTIVE OR DEFUNCT) DICTATES, FORMULATE OR SUITABLE FOR FREEDOM, PEACE, UNITY OF PURPOSE & COMMON INTERESTS; IN-ORDER TO SAVE THE GAMBIA DEMOCRACY PROJECT & RECTIFY A FAILED, UNSUCCESSFUL & IN-EFFECTIVE COALITION THAT WAS GEARED TOWARDS DISLODGING CURRENT REGIME.
OUT OF MANY ONLY ONE GOAL!  UNITY MESSAGES ARE ALWAYS COMING AND RECENTLY CAME AGAIN FROM FOLLOWING EXTRACTS FEATURED UNDER GAINAKO EDITORIAL;
..............................................Press Release, .Eight Annual Commemoration ............April 10th/11th 2000 Student demonstrations ..............................................By Omar Joof........April 10th, 2008
"As far as president Yaya Jammeh and his cronies are concerned, their political conveniences are more important than our pains; and their hankerings to control all of us more essential than our human rights.
After eight years, it is obvious to all except those in denial that president Yaya Jammeh simply lacks the courage to see justice done as regards April 10th/11th 2000. As long as he is president of The Gambia, our wounds would not heal. We therefore urge all Gambians and friends of The Gambia to start making efforts to constitutionally vote him out of power. Though his regime has rigged the electoral process, if Gambians overwhelmingly demand during elections that he should go, he would have no option but to leave. As a result, we call on all opposition leaders in The Gambia to put aside their differences and unite, for the good of The Gambia. As for the combatants of April 10th/11th 2000, we urge you all to remain steadfast in the struggle for justice . On this solemn occasion, we reiterate our trust in everyone of you. We are positive that the bond that binds us shall survive the test of time, as it has been consecrated by blood of the martyrs. We thank you all for your solidarity."
NO RETREAT, NO SURRENDER! Omar Joof Exiled Prexy GAMSU "
END OF QUOTE!
Omar Joof APPEALED (UNDER ABOVE QUOTES) FOR SOLIDARITY & UNITY! Hope more PROPOSALS & IDEAS WOULD FLOW ON HOW TO MOBILIZE AVAILABLE RESOURCES TO ENABLE THEM TO UNITE UNDER ONE BANNER? UNITY IS STRENGTH
THE BALLS IN YOUR COURT!
May ALLAH answer your prayers Dalton 1? Ameen!

Bro Kobo,
Thanks greatly for your support here when we are weak and when we are strong in debates. Mine was just the usual humor. If for anything, people like you in this forum will always leave a productive society of people. So many people have talked about unity, and still do -including your very self. Please don't attach the credit to me, less you want me to run away.
Kind regards, Dalton |
