Another one from Daily Observer newspaper; Lock up bad journalists - we say! under http://observer.gm/africa/gambia/article/2008/5/19/lock-up-bad-journalists-we-say

Santanfara! "Mightier than the Sword", is not APPROPRIATE! SWORDS ARE NO MORE BUT GUNS. REMEMBER GUNS CAME THROUGH A COUP TO TOPPLE A DEMOCRATIC ELECTED GOVERNMENT, THUGGERY & HARDLINER, AUTHORITARIAN & DICTATOR! .

Halifa can only PEN & DOES NOT HAVE A GUN TO PROOF HIMSELF! He isn't a CRIMINAL EITHER Yes Its a matter of CHOICE TO USE ANY COVERT OR SUBVERSIVE ACTIONS TO URSUP POWER! Halifa has chosen to be CIVIL & PLAY BY RULES OF DEMOCRACY FOR EMPOWERMENT OF THE PEOPLE! He also has A VERY GOOD LEGACY IN GAMBIAN POLITICS.

Lock all bad journalists!! Great!! Starting of course with the observer managing director himself, considering his evil intention is to see Gambians cut each other's throat while he lives his pathetic and confused life in Britain contemplating his next victims. This man is the devil reincarnate.I hope folks are not taking him seriously.

shaka, we understood the position of the DO, don't worry. halifa and co have done a lot for spreading the values of democracy. what is puzzling is the fact that gambian haven't been convince overwhelming by the messages of pdois. what the DO and it's singers says about halifa or others will not make much impact.

Santanfara, Gambians are not convince about anything except someone with an axe to burry them six feet deep. The people that runs into Jammeh's camp are the ones he butchers first and humiliate their families. Where are all those PPP big wigs who were tortured to death and strip nicked in front of the whole world? They are begging for mercy and sipping the dictators sweet.

As for Halifa, no worries if anyone wants to attack him just attack him directly at foroyaa or on national media. They will get what they are looking for.

Those selfish so called business men in Banjul who are looting our nation jumping into Jammeh's van waggen are just after their own interest. They know for sure if people like Halifa are in power, they are doomed.

So am not worried about Gambians not publicly buying the ideas of PDOIS. Well, I guess they did not buy Jawara as well since he was chased out and no one said a word. Ignorance is the worst disease and the Jammeh likes are banging on that.

Thanks Santa. I am least worried about Halifa in this case because he is a politician and deserves public scrutiny. He had stated time and again that he welcome critiques and criticism of his opinion. However when someone is deliberately using one of the most lethal tools in the form of his position as both the Managing Director and Editor-in-chief of the only daily newspaper in the Gambia to sow discord and breed hatred between citizens of this nation then i am very livid. Especially when this person is a non citizen drowned in confused pan Africanism. His recent efforts to destabilize the media fraternity and dictatorial hostility towards the GPU hierarchy is absolutely unacceptable.
