One day a long long time ago one man and his dog were on a journey. He was a kanda the type of man who wants others to admire him. He was followed every where by his dog and his griot who plays the lute and sing his praises. On their journey they came to a village and i just want my fulla brothers to join me here because it was a fulla village called sare gainako. He found some people sat at the bantaba but these latter; on sighting him from that particular direction, scattered and fled to their various homes in fright. The guy sat down at the bantaba with his griot wondering why those people ran away as they did. Any way later on the village head peeped out and saw our man perched on the seats of the grand bantaba as if nothing unusual had happened. The said chief came out to talk to him and informed him that the villagers ran away because they thought they saw him being followed by a lion called 'mbarodi' in fulla language. The dog they saw behind him was just like the feared lion and he also said that in fact the lion had killed some one; a woman ,that very day and that she was caught on the route that our kanda came from.No wonder then that our fulla friends ran away pirti! parta!.Our man the kanda being the loud mouth and of little sense thought that since he just came from that direction and not seeing any lion thereby decided he would show off his bravado and get his griot more to talk about to others later on. Our man was there and then decided to go and look for the lion and either chase it away or kill it he bluffed. He asked to be given a cutlass and when he got one he commanded his griot to follow him in his quest to get the lion,my fulla compatriots pleaded with him to naught, he would not listen to them. Certainly he believed he would not see the lion and that he could just patrol the area and come back to bluff that he had sent it running away. What he did not realize was that the lion was actually sleeping after eating that unfortunate woman earlier on. This time when he walked on the self same route the lion had awakened and was resting under the trees just outside the village. Our man and his minstrel were walking with such show of bravery followed closely behind by the dog . Suddenly he came upon the lion and exclaimed 'hah! its a real lion.Koh mbarodi tiigi woi enam!He flung the cutlass at the lion which ignored him as it was not hungry and therefore unconcerned. Our man just turned about and fled, the griot not seeing the lion asked him ''hi what about the lion?''.Our man simply replied 'kill it with your lute if you can as for me am off', all this whilst running away to safe his dear life. The griot walked further and he also saw the real lion lying down. He too fled away having thrown his lute towards the lion. Now these two frightened guys were running away but forgot that they had a dog with them . This dog also followed closely behind running and panting just like his master and the griot. What a run oh my god! What a marathon indeed.Well they ran and ran and the kanda would not let his griot overtake him so that the lion would get the one behind ,the griot also wanted to overtake the kanda because just behind him was the dog and he feared it was the lion in close pursuit.Hells bells the dog had never experience being abandoned by his master and just followed as well as he could . This continued till they got to the village and again their entrance was noticed by the villagers and as on cue they also scattered . Some climbed into the lofts of their granaries others onto trees and everyone for him or herself sought refuge. Our man kanda also got himself into a hide out. This hiding went on for some time till another passer by came into the village all he saw was our man's dog lying under a tree.No noise or sound did he hear so he called out to see who would respond. The village chief came out again to meet him when he realized that it safe to do so. The story was later narrated to the new comer, who as it turned out, was a real hunter a lion hunter called a 'Danno' .This man went and killed the lion and the villagers lived happily ever after. However the argument again was who was the biggest coward can any one help me, because i don't know who to tag it on.As usual i got this story from a good friend during a meyeh meeting I hope it was good fun yeah
