Santanfara, Jalikunda Stockholm can organise workshops and show case on this issue. There is a problem in Stockholm I found out withn the dans studion here. They teach African dans but does not know the names of the moves. This is very sad indeed. I have discussed with some and we hope we can come up with he names. The only problem is we in the Gambia have names that Malians or Guineans do not use for the same dans. Moreover most of us West Africans immitate birds or animals during dansing. The duck dans is typical LAWBEH(Fullah)and the BATOKULANJANG(King Fisher)is both Bamana,Malinke and Mandinka. SometimesJAALIKUNO .Even the Wollofs do the KANARA too. Just try to observe our people when dansing. |
