loribe, what is the relationship/friendship based on , write down exactly how many hours you have spent in his company, where would you live in gambia or your home country, try and spend a long period of time there and not be a tourist, if possible ligve among the community, or stay way from the tourist areas, that can be a reality check. who pays the bills, just be practical for a moment. |

Hi Jatta, Thank you for your words. No big plans or promises being made by either of us, only planning to have time together. Haven't been back to the Gambia since April 2006, but hoping to go soon. We still talk everyday, when I say talk its mostly text messages but we call it talking. Please don't be sad but such negative stuff being said to me sometimes it brings me down. Thank you so much. The heart will win. Best wishes |

Hi Jambo started as freiendship between 2 people with common interests. Haven't spent a lot of time with him I know, but everyday we have talked, like I said to Jatta mostly texting but we say we are talking. Sometimes this creates a stronger bond not distracted by other issues, so we really talk about ourselves. Not planning to go back to The Gambia as a tourist. Have travelled a lot and always my preferred option has been to live in the real world of that country, experiece of this in Guatemala, Cuba, Yemen, Uganda etc. Think reality check of different cultures and standards of living happened a long time ago for me. This guy works, but as you know no matter what job he is doing in The Gambia we are not on the same level finacially - impossible.

Fortunately lots of us arent easily put off and side tracked and we go back to Gambia for our original purpose!
I am going at the end of November to take students to tendaba and the surrounding villages.
Tendaba is always in my heart.I love it. When I am stressed in UK I imagine sitting out on the end of the decking looking out on the river watching the sunset with a glass of wine. Its my happy place. |
