"The art of writing and reading doomed already in our days",
says a Swedish professor of linguistics and phonetics

The art of writing is in crisis due to poor knowledge of spelling an grammar among young people in our society today. That, in turn, is reason to generally failing proficiency in reading.
We have to accept that the interest in reading probably will disappear within 50 to 75 years.

Voice-activated computers and audio books will lead back to oral culture and general illiteracy. But, instead of fighting against it, itīs much better to concentrate on training our ability of expressing ourselves orally, he says further.

So, after all – it might not be important to strive for literacy in Africa? Oral art is well developed in African countries. Maybe, in the near future, we all are walking around as our own jalis, not with a kora but an mp3player in our ears.
