The votes have now been cast and the results show that the APRC have won 37 of 43 seats, UDP won 4 seats, NADD won 1 seat and Independent won 1 seat. So in fact the opposition combined have 6 seats. It is clear from both the Presidential elections and the Legislative national Assembly Elections. The majority of Gambians who voted confidently voted in President Jammeh and The APRC. They have demonstrated yet a again that they have little confidence in the traditional opposition.
This election also indicates room for a new generation of opposition leaders with a clearer vision to emerge. However until such time the electorate has indicated by sending a clear mandate to both the President and the National Assembly that they are confident in the APRC Leadership. Even in traditionally staunch opposition areas like Bakau and in Serekunda voters have voted out the opposition and chosen the APRC and have endorsed President Jammeh progressive development strategy.

Pleased be reminded that the turn-out is only 38% which is less than half the voter population. Therefore things need to be put into perspective.
Thanks |

What a mockery to Gambian democracy again! I always maintained that its a joke to rely on the opposition as lacking PROPER STRATEGY and that THE BEST OPTION WAS TOTAL BOYCOT and put their axe together.
At the Foni, there has been partial boycot based on circumstances beyond their control.
I maintain its going to be a disgrace and NEVER CAN THEY RECOVER WITHOUT NEW BRANDS, NEW BREED OF POLITICIANS AND NEW STRATEGIC ALLIANCE.
GOD BLESS THE GAMBIA! |

Madis, I think the Gambians have spoken their minds again. Even in the socalled democratic US and Europe not all people go to vote. This is the type of problem we have in Sweden today. During the campange people didnt listen so as to vote correctly, but now most of them is shouting we did not vote you in. It is too late to grumble. I hope the opposition will do something about it. They have a task to convince the Gambians so that they can vote next time. |

Kobe, Boycut does not solve the problem. They should have learnt this when Darboe and Waa did it some years ago. The ones who do not boycut go to vote. Now the results are out. |

Alhassan, you should have said when Waa tricked Assan Musa Camara and Alhagi Yaya Ceesay to convince Darboe and Dembo-byforce, who were principally against it, to agree to the boycott. It was realised hitherto that Waa was disingeneous in his advise. That is why UDP quickly called-off the protest after his expulsion and when on to contest the Bakau councillor seat.
UDP have now got other agendas to pursue. They are not interested in squabbles and will not engage those who have nothing but squabbles to offer.
All am doing here is just to set the record straight.
Thanks

The Gambian people have spoken and very loudly...In the words of our erudite and veteran politician Waa Juwara, "lets call a spade a spade." |
"...Verily, in the remembrance of Allâh do hearts find rest..." Sura Al-Rad (Chapter 13, Verse 28)
...Gambian by birth, Muslim by the grace of Allah... |
