Thanks Kons. I have finally opened that url. I lookds like the Gambia is still in the medieval period.
This is complete trash. The close similarity to this is what is called in medicine the placeb effect. This attest to the fact that human beings are a large part psychological beings. It is all in the mind.
We have heard false prophets before , but what is interesting here is that there are thousands of people walking the streets of the Gambia who also claim they can do this. Could anybody seriously tell me this is the first time to hear or come across this kind of a thing ? The difference is that Jammeh is using his position of public office to make an impact. That is what makes this an abuse of office. If this guy wants to practice medicine he shpuld go get education , otherwise the authorities health department should open the doors of RVTH for all the millions of traditional healers to try their luck on our people's lives.

Did you do medical research work. You seem to know some medicine issues. Yes a placebo is an indication that humans are influenced by psychology and sometyimes feel releieved even though the placebo has no effect at all.

Its like when you give injection to gambians, they feel they had the best treatment.

This is absolute nonsense and rubbish. If Jammeh can cure people he would have cured his owned mother who was flown to a foreign country for treatment.

This is so sickening to read and it makes me feel like disowning my people for beliefing in such ancient dominant theory. Yahya Jammeh is playing into the ignorance of Gambians and he is set to dominate them for the rest of his life.

Off course everyone knows natural medicines can be found in trees in the bushes. Green leaves or better known as herbs are known to coincidentally take care of some illnesses atleast temporary. All our grandparents used to use such medicine and they still do.

What is dangerous is adding the Holy Quran to Jammeh's nonsense. We all know the power of prayer and anyone can be accidentally relief by simply praying for the individual. What is so new in what Yahya Jammeh is saying now???

I will tell you what happened at the RVTH. These patients were terrified by simply seeing this monster and therefore they suddenly forgot about their pain in fear. Yeh he think he cured them, right??? Shame on you so call herbalist who know nothing but taking advantages of people...

This is a disgrace an insult to modern society. Its is a bunch of crap... We have witnessed the most dominant marabouts in Africa and they have all perished in shame. This one will too...

You know Dbaldeh , what is really funny is the one who said was okay now he needed a job.Well maybe that tells the whole story. Gambian people need jobs , economic and educational improvement instead of this kind of idleness.

You got it right KayJatta. Many of these people are sick from depression and lack of hope. If only they can get some of the basic things they need like being able to provide for their multi families, then they will not make a trip to the hospital much more think about Jammeh's ill cures.

You know though, there are many historic perspectives to what Jammeh is doing. Thinking about the game Jammeh is playing, I could see some historic parallel to his menace. Common sense tells us that Yahya Jammeh is playing a Psychological game with the Gambian people to dominate their minds in thinking that he is a supernatural human being.

In a society like ours where there is still strong belief about witch craft, idol worshipping, and magic spells it is easy to mentally change the way that society thinks and reason. By injecting that supernatural mentality in people, they will be affraid to challenge this man in any way say perform.

Many will belief that if you confront Jammeh or even speak negative about him anywhere, he has the ability to hear and change himself into another person to get you. Unfortunately, this is a very powerful way of dominating a society.

Do anyone remember when Jawara the former President was believed to be extra ordinary? Do you remember the widely spread message that Jawara magically walked away when his Helicopter crash at Brikama Bah in the late 80s when many passengers died as a result of that crash? In fact until the time he was booted out of office unceremoniously, he was regarded as someone with supernatural powers.

Another example, is our next door neighbor Senegal, where former President Abdou Joof was believed to be collecting votes from the devils to win elections. So there is a deep history to this psychological game that these leaders use to dominate a society. By doing so people are incline to vote for these people even if they disagree with them.

The conclusion is that we have seen these games played by African leaders over and over again. It is one of the reasons they work hard to keep our people ignorant and uneducated so they will believe whatever they are told. Everyone of these leaders has horribly failed and Yahya Jammeh will not be any different.

Only education and enlightenment can free our people from such mental slavery and babaric domination. The saddest part is that ill educated people like the daily observer editors and other selfish people use such opportunities for their selfish agenda.
