With all the noise Waa Juwara has been making against the UDP (Ousainou Darbo) and the torture he had gone through in the hands of the NIA, it’s difficult to understand why he has not contested this National Assembly election in order to test his popularity. Does NDAM really have any voter base?
There has been a wild rumor in Gambia last summer about Waa being secretly bought by the APRC to cause havoc within NADD during the selection of the presidential candidate.

If this is true then we are heading towards a one party state which the APRC stalwarts have been chasing. Halifa is is reported to have said that if he loses he would quit politics and pursue a PhD. I think even if they give way to young ones they should be around to lend them support in terms of advice. What is a country without opposition or credible opposition?? |

I think the above is laughable. Halifa and Waa have never being genuine in their opposition to Jammeh. Halifa saw the 1994 takeover as an opportunity to drive PDOIS to dominance hence his complacency in the disbanding of First Republic politicians through Decree 89 and the clandestine undermining of the UDP, while Juwara wants an opposition built around him and himself alone. This is as a result of his belief that he was born to be 'Mansa' and most be one at all cost even if that means insulting his own uncle not to mention other respected community leaders like Ex-Seyfo Buwa Kinteh of Jarra, and the disingenuously branding of the UDP Leader [amongst others] as a part-time politician. To say that the absence of these two monsters from the opposition camp will lead to a one party state is outrageous. They are human beings after all and more so they are not indispensable. I am therefore saddened by Madi's comment.
I only hope Madi did not mean to say this and will come on to clarify his position. These kind of comments are perverse to democracy and should not be encouraged or given a fuel of propagation.
Thanks

Nyari, It maybe laughable to you but to me it is not. Make of it what you think, its my opinion and I still hold on to it until i can be sanely convinced otherwise. Maybe i need English Langauge classes. It is an assumption, that if all these rumours are true then in my opinion we in for trouble. Because a fulltime opposition leader like Halifa can't be lost just like that. If you have problems wit Halifa's leadship fortunately i do not.Are you saddened by my comments? oh sorry! |

Madiba, voicing an outrageous opinion is not a crime anyway, and I must admit you are entitled to it but please be aware that it too demeaning to the intergrity of Gambians and Gambian Democracy.
Thanks |
