This link below, from the point in which our president said he " has now a mandate" to cure AIDS is worrying. Who gave him the mandate? God or the spirits or what? Is this the beginning of the Fraternity of the Oracle of Senegambia
More worrying is the Vice President also applauding the move with the entire medical community sitting in agreement? May be they should let medical doctors from the MRC do the job of testing patients and retesting them after meeting the Chief of the Oracle.
Certainly MRC should be interested in this after all they are there for medical research with big international organizations like the Gates Foundation, GlaxoSmithkline etc all operating from Gambia.
Gambians should rally behind and have the discovery patented to the benefit of all.
The president said that for him to cure any one of AIDS, one must first be tested positive. My only problem is who will declare that a patient is positive. I hope, they will not use a non-positive "patient" and then take him to the lab only to prove what the “group” already knew.
I would suggest we fly in an Aids patient from South Africa or Senegal or anywhere else under the full glare of the World Health Organization.
I will sell all our cattle to pay for the air ticket of the "AIDS Patient".
I hope and pray that our president does not carry out his challenge of treating AIDS patients.

Karamba raised an issue here sometime ago under the topic " Who is fooling Who". This is even more relevant today. That is why my signature states: The greatest threat to democracy is ignorance.
We should all shout Allelujah, because by "divine" intervention, we have succeeded where all have failed to once again bring hope to the rest of mankind by providing an AIDS treatment.
I am beginning to sense and early onset of some neurological disorder. Time is the greatest enemy.

If Jammeh seems beyond cure, Gambians deserve sanity. This is the last dead rabbit in Jammeh's magical bag of tricks. |

Well like the mandinka say: NINSI MENG BEH FALA SINING, AMANG JAREH BINA KALA SUMANG LA( A bull that will be slaughterd tomorrow, there is no need trying to measure how big its horns are beacuse its of no use).
Since Wenedesday will never fail to come, lets see who will fail. Like Lalo Kebba said of Ansu Masing, that he will never fail his appointment with local French Governor, lets hope it goes as the story narraretd by Lalo Kebba.
Ansu Masing a local warrior boasted of: ansu taa bayi la, teneng(monday) taa bayi la( Ansu will never fail and monday will never failday of appointment). Ansu eventually became a ruler but for three months and was killed but he never failed the confrontation he promised the french governor La Force. |

Kondorong,
Take it from me, not this round for Gambians. If all was right, not Jammeh in the first place. Because it is the wrong order, everyting goes wrong. It is the order of things that needs curious examination. This particular order will continue producing the same pattern of results. That is not because Jammeh is a popular choice. It is the way he engages people that permits what is happening. |

NO he is fooling himself. the messiah jesus never went out boursting about his healing powers ,he even give credit to God .he said by the hand of God i heal .i can savely say yaya is not the messiah may be a false messiah . he should stop been paranoid with spiritual powers , there are pople who are close to God ,but this is mostly through prayers ,staying away from evil and constantly seeking god's forgiveness and being humble and pious . this people never show off any special powers they may pocess .they are commonly non as waliaula meaning friends of God. can we place jilanka among that group of people ? well difficult to say ,but the cadinal principle of being humble and less pompous is being broken . i think yaya is just trying to make a bit of fun ,thus making even halifa put a smile on his face. i know sedia is a lively man ,he even play the kora on naming ceremonies . he can also speak mandinka without using a single english vocab. i bet most mandinkas and wolofs can't do that . |

What is the status of HIV postive people in the Gambia? How do their neighbours and the wider community treat them?
Do you think this is a ruse to get people to be tested?
What worries me is that they have to be identified publically before the "treatment" can begin. Of course no one can cure this disease and no cocktail of drugs can make it go away - so, what will happen to people once they are identified???? |

lILY, All those who have been tested possitive by the MRC-Gambia recieve treatment. I suggest you disregard the artickle about the president curing HIV/AIDS. That was propaganda. Science have prooved it. I think 1 percent of the population of the Gambia is affected. The only problem is people are still quite about it. There is a lot of info in the Gambia. All those intrested and work for the HIV/AIDS-possitive will tell you that people are not yet open about it. Lots of Gambians die of it without information. The drugs gives longer lives with a some side effects. In Sweden, studies have shown different kinds of side effects for those taking medicattion. Note:THERE IS NO CURE YET. |

I absolutley know there is no cure, but if you tell people there is you firstly you lie to them but secondly you may encourage them to be more open about their condition - and this can be both good and bad, Good because they can get drugs and treatment yet it could be bad because the ignorance of other people may lead to sufferers being ostracised by their communities. Hopefully not. |
