Kondorong, staying away from the beach means to perpetuate the situation. You are doing exactly what tour operators, hotel owners etc. want! Instead, and if you really like to go to the beach, you should go there alone, with the whole family or with your wife, at any time you like.
Together with the (Gambian and foreign) press, you can bring this shameful sign of neocolonialism into public discussion. I know some German newspapers who also could be interested.
I dont want to go six feet deep . People from Yoro Bawol dont matter really. Infact few Gambians know where my village is.
On a more serious note, you are right. By avoiding the beach, i wopuld only be doing exactly what they intend to achieve. We have to poen up all areas for Gambians. We are capable of enjoying beauty and nature.
Give me the name of the German newspapers and before you know it i will become famous . Perhaps i will be on Channel Four news. |

| SisO, you're right - it is not the best for Gambia's image. Even here in Germany people tell me they don't want to go to Gambia because they heard that tourism in Africa has a neocolonial touch... |

I can imagine what kind of holiday this could be... But no problem, if they need you for a TV series about tourism in Gambia/Africa, they will send a mounted messenger to Yoro Bawol to deliver the visum! |

Yoro Bawol is different from germany. Its a source of pride and influence in my village. He who feels it knows it all.
Didn't the bible say :"THOU SHALL NOT LIVE BY BREAD ALONE" |

I give up.
Okay, I tell you something. Once I tried to imagine how some of the Bantaba members look like. For you, Morgan Freeman came to my mind. I can't imagine Morgan Freeman with three wives; maybe that's my problem |

Do you have a sixth sense. Morgan Freeman is my star in Hollywood. He has a a commanding and moving voice. I only watch his films in the dead of the night while brewing ATTAYA and alone. Lately, i got cranky small solar panel in Yoro Bawol.
Like the blind man once said that "if business is good you open a branch". My branch in late night movies. |

No joke: It seems as if the marabout who told me that I have a strong sixth sense is right; other incidents prove it.
Morgan Freeman for me is one of the best actors in the world, and surely the best in Hollywood. So, you can feel flattered.
But what has this all to do with the topic? Oh, Bantaba!!! |

Thats why it called BANTABA which means "the big open space" where anything goes.
His greatest line for me was when he acted a in movie and said the following about a prison mate who escaped later on : "SOME BIRDS ARE NOT MEANT TO BE CAGED.. THEIR FEATHERS ARE TOO BRIGHT". My greatest wish is for him to do a dcumentary on the Gambia. |

| This would be great. And I am almost sure he would like to do it if someone who could make a really good documentary would ask him. A Gambian, of course. |
