Alliance For Regime Change
P.O. Box 1269
Bronx, NY 10453

September 24th 2006

Gambians and the world community:
after consulting with all our polling agents, representatives and intelligence networks on the ground on September 22nd presidential election, it has been concluded that there was massive electoral fraud, intimidation, total violation of the MoU and manipulation of the election process and results. Therefore, the Alliance for Regime Change has totally rejected the Election Results and call on President Jammeh to step down.

We call on all democratic forces to join us in condemning the way and manner the election results were manipulated.

A Press Release from the Alliance Headquarters in Banjul is due this evening to that effect. We thank you for your patience and support for restoration of true and genuine democracy in the Gambia.

Down with the corrupt APRC Government!
Down with President Jammeh's dictatorship!
Long live The Gambia!
Long live the Alliance for Regime Change!

Signed:
Saihou Mballow
Alliance Coordinator
NY-U.S.A

The coward Darboe did a good job this time around, and i hope he should be able to establish the ground for election fraud.

Yero, opinion.

Why reject the wishes of the people when you have less regard for them your self.I think it is better to live under Jammeh than under unpredictable aspirants.

Bro Jany.,
Big & good question, but that i respect his take on it if the elections were really frudulent, and at this time-the NADD camp is also consulting, but i couldn't get any source from Sam or Halifa.

I can see a huge glittering dew of smoke from denton bridge and amidst the clouds, the smiles of Jilanka with shinning white teeth carrying a banner of reconciliation!

I see a different picture imaginary, but wish Gambians well. Now that one of the election contesters rejected the results, the "observers" will consider all the alleged frudulent activities, and that means if true, then Jammeh's Gov't is not ligitimate.

[Rah]’s take on the fraudulent accusations could only be justified if an alleged "discarding” of 277317 votes took place, equal to 41% of registered voters. Otherwise, it’s been a whitewash. It’s a huge unmotivated figure, according to AllGambian.net voter turnout stats. yeh,rah

Eaxctly, Dalton1, "voter apathy". Almost half the registered voters just don't care. There just wasn't a credible candidate. We need new blood. I hope heads roll, not from Liar Jammeh's hands though. yeh,rah

Interesting reading and updates under

Gambia: The Politicians Have Spoken, Now It is the Turn of the Citizens of the Gambia to Decide
http://allafrica.com/stories/200609210602.html

In democracry do we need lLaw Enforcement Agencies taking sides openly as "Green Boy"? In "free and fair" did we expected these blonders and authoritarian exercises; hiring, firing, blackmail (FEAR FACTOR!) and manipulation of IEC personel? Under "Freedom of Expressions" do we expect seeing GRTS dominated by one of the main parties for FEAR and terror against journalism? And finally why contest if it was declared that "If you want to President .........You have the longest wait like vulture.....I am not giving up power...30 yrs or more!"

Gambia has a special democracy and the society don't need EDUCATION AND DEVELOPMENT! Therefore Ebra stated each society has or deserves its own democracy. NADD became the strategic alliance for HOPE AND SUCCESS to many gambians abroad but failed as it got shattered to penetrate Gambians at home. Let UDPO/NRP Alliance take the blame and defend themselves in the platform where NADD came into existence. Its a futile exercise to contests election results as fraud.

Here's the news all gathered together in one place, courtesy Momodou Camara:
http://www.gambia.dk/press/

Let the Gambia press wake up. All eyes are on the Gambia. Later today the Gambia addresses the UN General Assembly......

I’m saying all this as a non-Gambian and one who has never been to the Gambia – as an outsider if you like, but as a well-wishing outsider who is keenly attuned to listening to Gambians at this point of Gambia’s political, economic and social history.

My mistakes will abound, I’m writing in a hurry got to finsih this before my short break is over.

The holy Kanilai water has a good source.

As a very interested African non-Gambian I'd like to remind all of us that the ANC had the opportunity of getting more than 66% of the national vote in the first democratic election ever held in South Africa and it seems to most observers, that the ANC were not keen to score more than that - and were happy that Inkatha got around 10% because with an overwhelming victory - such as Ahmad Tejan Kabbah's in 2002 and more recently, Yahya Jammeh's now, - in South Africa then, it would have been be possible to change the holy Constitution - and imagine the post-apartheid responsibilities of finding jobs and providing the housing that Joe Slovo had been working for( not to mention truth and reconciliation that would have to go with it!)

What is encouraging here, is Alhaji Jammeh's appeal to the vanquished - down but not out - albeit defeated by such a significant and decisive percentage of the popular will that is beyond a margin of error that could have changed the results and got Mr. Jammeh to change places with Mr. Darboe as leader of the opposition) - an appeal for co-operation and national unity. And let us assume that the elections were not 100% digitalised and 100% fair because of all the reasons given , we will still be facing the reality that the disorganised and disunited and fragmented will (many fragments) of the opposition was still nowhere to being near a decisive victory over trhe incumbent achiever ..... who prevailed.

So whilst every freedom and democracy-loving Gambian would like to vote in a perfectly run election, the losers must not be bad losers and go on crying over spilt milk. Jammeh has done a lot for the Gambia and that's what got him the votes.
Now the opposition can unite and provide the Gambia with a rule-of- law-separtion-of -powers -and -free -press- Human Rights-democracy( in the meanwhile seek juridical redress for any proven irregularities)
or
even go for a national unity coalition – which is not necessarily the same as an odious one-party state and government.
The opposition’s disappointment is great. The Swedish Social Democrats are facing the same reality and in the case of the Gambian opposition, they could not point to a record of achivement but only at the promise of suprassing what Jammeh has achieved.( N.B. Sweden's economy has been on top of the EU ladder for the past six years)
Let’s agree that the people have spoken and wish the Gambia even better times and more progress. The people have spoken...... haven’t they?
Perhaps with a better turnout they would have spoken more ( a little louder) giving him something like 73% of the popular vote according to some men of knowledge.....

Cornelius have spoken under qualified conmditions. We have the election observers and mature politicians and they have expressed certain reservations also. These results are accepted in DOOD FAITH for PROGRESS. However there are room for improvements and opposition parties are part of a credible democracy. Those concerns according to reports of BBC about the elections under topic just 67.45% should be addressed. In my opinion REJECTING these results are rubbish as the swing are manifestations of protests and mass defections because of poor leadership by the opposition parties. Let the old crazy bald heads give up politics for new breed of politiciians. They have failed us and want to continue appearing in the spotlight of Gambian politics.

No more Darborites! What we need is a healthy political atmosphere in this NEW ERA as we are in the 21st Century. The crude styles of politics in all quarters should ceased if we continue with civic education and the citizenry!

I hope it becomes a two street. Harping about Darbo isn't going to change anything. Darbo's supporters don't give a hoot what boneheads like you think. They are still the second largest political establishment in the country. Your saint poll what? See what I told you about your nonsensical rhetoric. At the end of the day it doesn't help.

The same goes for Yero. He is hiding behind his keyboard in the USA and calling a man who sacrifice a lot to stand up to a dictator a coward. And folks here have the temerity to call him a journalist. What are they smoking? Yero has always been a wannabe and calling Darbo a coward while you hide in the midwest doesn't say much about your integrity. It exposes the coward that Yero is and says much about him than the man he is insulting and who by the way is old enough to be his Daddy.

Bronx take charge is my message and ignore the old order. Jammeh is our generation and not OLD PA DARBOE, O.J, WAA . However Halifa may be EVER ACTIVE to support generations like you. Think about that!

Some GENTLEMEN should think about retiring in Gambian politics and allow new breed of potentials to TAKE CHARGE. Just started the screening process as the political landscape has change. Its a challenge we need to re-consider!

Any prophecy of another promised Messiah in Gambian politics!

PEACE AND PROGRESS!

I dont believe in messiahs in politics. Trust no politician with your life. All of them have to be checked and put under the microscope. The idea of a messiah is what has made decracy fail in Africa. There is no redeemer but ourselves. Rights have never been given freely in history. Every society worked for it. Even Abraham Lincoln who is credited with ending slavery did suspend Habeas Corpus.
