Don’t you think that the Gambia is not on stage of one-two party system? While since APRC is the only party the Gambians trust mostly. I mean 67, 33% of the vote that is a huge. (If all that are true) Then we don’t need an opposition’s party!

Advocacy of one party system can be nortured based on a good human rights records, makes the society free to exercise its civic rights without harassment and FEAR, a viable social system, law and order, good justice and equitable ("FAIR") sytem but not viable under a state of anarchy, arbitary arrests, detentions, torture and maimed its society for alledged political crimes and freedom of expressions.
I doubt whether Gambia has reached that advanced stage yet. The elections was a diplomatic gesture and we have to ACCEPT RESULTS ON FACE VALUE. There are other factors at play in politics. Its a STATE, THE SOCIETY and not ABOUT THE AUTHORITY AND AUTHORITARIAN.
PEACE FOR ALL GAMBIANS BUT NOT PLEASURE FOR ONE AND FEW AUTHORITIES! |

What do you need parties for? As it is obvious that Gambia belongs to the president even APRC is dispensable. All you need is an official name for this new type of government. 'Democracy' won't do anymore. Any suggestions? |

Thats the TRUTH and do oversighted that. There is no need for PUBLIC ACCOUNTABILITY AND TO HAND OVER STEWARDSHIP TO AN AUTOCRAT AND SOCIETY TO BE PRAISE SINGERS, MUTE OR SILECNCED!
Yes for APRC = PATRIOTS, STOOGES, PUPPETS, PRAISE SINGERS AND GOOD CITIZENS No for APRC = Enemies of the state, cyber terrorits and the political criminals

Kobo, I don't know what you mean by your statements above but Bantaba in Cyberspace is a web based community forum where Gambians and friends of Gambia express their views. It is not reserved for any exclusive group and anyone who agrees to our policy statement http://www.gambia.dk/forums/policy.asp is welcome to join.

Well. What the hell is going on here? Some said that most of the voters were afraid of Aprc-Yahya or they even sincerely had staling some of the count that was watching under some kind of watchdogs? Well it can be as it is usual in Africa. But now tell me! Are we all countable of corrupt- greed blind or even murder cose we choice Aprc, frankly are all aprc a moder-croupt? And are we afraid of yahya that some of us choices him. I wouldn’t take that because yahya cant command all the Gambians to vote for him. We as Gambian are not foolish and we will never be. to be honest is the opposition whom to count for what is going on at home cose most of us has no alternative but to site and look the parties going by, or if one politically freaky then go with Aprc, but mostly are seen them as the really fragment party. So they choice what they prefer and we have to respect it when we are talking about freedom of choice and not putting all of us in mushroom of yahya as if bought us in to this world, so we see him only as leader nothing else and the rest you can exclude it!. Peace to all peace loving and May Allah in cloud us to the good ones

Apologise to Admin.! However hope we are safe in linking or accessing information from that STATE HOUSE website. Technology has advanced and the security apparatus othe Head of State and APRC is versatile and very vigilant nowadays in pursuit of the political warfare with cybertechnology. Don't know what's embedded technologicallywise?
If GAMBIA ARE FOR ALL GAMBIANS what about the questions of HUMAN RIGHTS AND FREEDOM OF EXPRESSIONS! Its timely to legislate OUR FIRST NATIONAL BILL OF RIGHTS and improve our democratic structures to MITIGATE ON IMPARTIALITY AND INJUSTICES! What about the blackholes in the ECONOMIC MANAGEMENT in particular the MISSING MILLIONS SAGA OF THE CENTRAL BANK and squandering of STATE FUNDS through parastatls and other national assets to sponsor perpetual CELEBRATIONS, EVENTS AND ANY NATIONAL FESTIVALS? Don't you think TRANSPARENCY AND ACCOUNTABILITY are relevant in the fight against CORRUPTION?
Why can't we built on these and improve the political atmosphere for PEACE, PROGRESS AND STABILITY?
PEACE TO ALL GAMBIANS IS THE CALLING! "To defend and rule the country as enshrined in the Gambia constitution without FEAR AND FAVOUR; so help me GOD" |

Kobo I like the way you analyse things but sometimes I don't agree with some of your points. The missing million saga were not proof my those who brought the arguement. Why didn't they take Yaya to court, Who barred them. Secondly I know for certain that if one knows what to say and when to say then freedom of expression will not be deprived. Gambians need to give lot of respect for our leaders, work according to the norms of the society.
One party system is on the way because it seems that is what our society needs for advancement. Just imagine the total number of voters who voted is less than half of the population of Gambia. So we called it majority? I think voting should be based on anybody born before the elections. This I mean the parents will vote on behalf of their kids. This is because the kids can't make any good decision but the responsibilities, care and others are beared by the parents. One person can have like as many voting numbers over the other based on the responsibilities on him than the other. 90% of the popultion will have saying. But not to be based on only those of 18 and older. Nowadays you see a kid of 11 years make judicious decision than those in 40s. |

You are only contradicting yourself. If elders should vote based on the number of responsibilites, why then do you think so if "a kid of 11 years make judicious decision than those in 40s".
Why should some one vote for me just because he is my elder. You are taking us back to pre 1965 when heads of households used to tell the family who they should vote for even if they dont like it. At least that process was not formalised and thank God i can vote for any one i like.
Are you trying to raise the temperature of Bantaba? Mighty Kobo is in the house |

Kobo so you endorse a one party state. How can you reconcile that with your democratic ideals. How can you norture a one party state in the 21st Century? |

| I must call TAMBABUKARY on you. The point I was trying to put forward is that why the voting age starts at 18 when someone of 11 knows what is good or bad for him/her. Concerning the parents voting for kids because is the freaking parents taking care of the responsibilities of the damn kids. The parents knows what/who to vote in order to eradicate any hardship. If the kid feels that he/she can decide for himself/herself, let the person vote irrespective of his/her age. The person concern have the right to exercise his/her right. There shouldn't be any limiting factor as far as you are a citizen. |

Ebra Come one. When you were introduced to numbers in first grade you may have been told that you cannot take a whole from a fraction or a larger number from a smaller number. For examople, 5-19 or 3/4- 2 was impossible.. That was because at that age your intellect cannot decode the principles involved. Over time, it was possible to do so. As you mature so does rules break. At age 18, you are considered matured enough to decide. I cant see how an 11 year old can vote or baby of 2 years. Hopefully by fourth grade, you must have heard your maths teacher saying " 5 minus 19, cannot, but borrow 10". All of us went through that.
Voting comes with responsibility and i believe that there should be cap regarding voting age. Voting should not be taken as a hit and miss affair.
By the way who is TAMBABUKARY? |

The missing millions oe central bank blackholes were santioned bfor investigations by IMF. The Auditor General produced a qualified report and the house relied on the report of the Auditor General to recommend for indictment of staff at the central bank for economic crimes. I did n't alleged that you (or Yaya) sould be taken to court.
I don't understand what you are implying on this statement
" Gambians need to give lot of respect for our leaders, work according to the norms of the society."
Is the Office of the Presidency above the law and presidents cannot be impeached or indicted? Should Yaya be excluded from Public Ac****ability. Sorry to be supicious of your moves as a POLITICAL PEEPING TOM AGENT! However I do have respect for the AUTHORITY OF THE BOSS. I am hinted already to FEAR you Ebra now! However for interactions and share of thoughts and opinions, can you elaborate on norms of Gambian society please?

"Minister Yankuba Touray once said in 1996 presidentail election that " NEE BULATA MALIBALI KULUNG LA EE AKATA GEE JAY LEEFEN TENDA"
"Welcome back to celeberate the victory. Visit freedomnewspaper, you will be amaze how Gambians love their dear leader."
"Jammeh said there will be nothing like "Baboons works monkey eat".
"Where in Europe or USA is democracy? No real democracy exist in this world. It ought to go with the norms of the society."

"We have seen some online newspapers go up to President's bedroom activites. Those people need to be prosecuted for alledging false information to the public"
I concur on the point of journalist spreading false information to face libel and brought to justice as valid, notwistanding my probe or seeing beyond the literature!
HOWEVER ANY PROPHECY OF A PROMISED MESSIAH WHO IS MAD TO CHALLENGE THESE STATEMENTS . As GODS WILL is always INVOKED then its GODS WILL that can brought his kingdom down like that of King Solomon, Pharaoh, Saihou Touray, Mobutu, Idi Amin, Charles Taylor etc!
"if you want to be a president of The Gambia, I can assure you that you will have the longest years to wait. Billahi Wallahi Tallahi, if you want to be the President of this country, I can swear to Almighty Allah, you must be more patient than a vulture, because I am not giving you the power now. When am I going to hand over The Gambia to you? And before that I will not hand over The Gambia. The day we achieve what is enshrined in Vision 2020, ...............You have at least 30 years to wait. Do I raise any eyebrows? Yes, the British were here for 400."
TAKE CARE EBRA! Just get a GOOD JOB for me as am coming home to participate in the ALLIANCE FOR PATRIOTISM RE-ORIENTATION AND CONSTRUCTION (APRC). These are good norms and I am doing my quota on the RE-ORIENTATION program and CIVIC EDUCATION through Bantaba!
HAVE MERCY! PEACE! |
