As I have been saying Darboe is untrustworthy and would pay for his betrayal of Gambians. Jabel Cessay did not mince his words. He called it like he saw it. See the article from the Echo.

DARBOE, COWARD & BETRAYER - Says Jabel Ceesay, Youth Leader Vote NADD He Urges Gambians
By Ebrima G. Sankareh Editor in-Chief....................Posted september 21st, 2006
As we approach D-day Friday one of lawyer Ousainou Darboe’s diehard supporters Mr. Jabel Ceesay says the United Democratic Party (UDP) candidate and twice-presidential contender is a terrible betrayer and a coward who lacks the requisite wherewithal to unseat incumbent dictator Yahya Jammeh. In this Echo exclusive conducted at Mr. Ceesay’s Maryland residence he rakes through the events that led him to call it quits from the party he once laid his life for.
“I have spent sleepless nights defending Mr. Darboe, traversed the entire country with Darboe, went to jail for Darboe, tortured for Darboe yet in the last minutes of the 1996 presidential election he fled to the Senegalese Embassy for his personal safety” says Jabel Ceesay a Serekunda Central youth leader and famous soccer promoter especially, with Guigi Football club. My fans and I have spent one year sleeping at Mr. Darboe’s compounds We were ready to die for him but to our utter disappointment even before the results were concluded, the Dobo coward had shamelessly fled and scaled the Senegalese Embassy compound. Some of the boys making noise in the US were under their mothers’ beds hiding, but today they try to vilify us and promote lawyer Darboe only because of language. Some of Mr. Darboe’s people were here in the US hoping to return and take up Cabinet level positions but were never willing to go to Mile II. True, I am Wollof but when I supported him I saw only one thing, The Gambia. My militants were so angry that they decided to join the APRC but I was able to convince them to stay. Then come the 2001 Presidential election when every Gambian knew that the youths and militants were ready for the worse. Yet again, before Waa Juwara and some of our officials could return to Banjul, Darboe picked the phone and rang Yahya Jammeh conceding defeat. For the records I was the UDP’s pulling agent at Merce N’gelew in Serekunda. What was more annoying was the fact that it was stage managed with a little kid like Yahya calling Ousainou Darboe “my son” laments Ceesay.
Says Ceesay “My brother and comrade in the struggle to remove Jammeh, Ousman Ceesay was killed by soldier’s bullet in the eve of the 2001 election at the Tallinding market. In response, we went on the rampage and burnt down the family house of Fabakary Tombong Jatta, National Assembly Member for the regime. In the evening when our high spirited youths yearning for democratic change went for Darboe to address the rally, be backed down on conditions of his personal safety. Lamin Waa Juwara led us to Tallinding because no army could have stopped us that day. My best friend, a fearless militant Momodou Jallow affectionately called Ndotch from Pakau N’gogu in Upper Nuimi was tortured until he lapsed into coma. Ndotch Jallow and I were detained and put on a torture regime called “monkey dance” for days. When the NIA finally asked us to rest, Ndotch collapsed. He was hospitalized where he had a stroke. Today as I speak to you says an emotional Ceesay, Ndotch is paralyzed in a wheel chair and lawyer Darboe has long forgotten him. In Tallinding most of the militants now nickname me monkey dance because over the course of time, I became accustom to this torture method.
According to Ceesay, Ousainou Darboe is an ultra- tribalist worse than Yahya Jammeh. If Darboe is not a tribalist why did he not call some others and me who sacrificed their lives for him and the UDP during his last visit to the US? No, he only called his Mandinka relatives and I want him to know that he has really revealed his true colors to us. He only pulled out of NADD because he is among those intellectuals who given the chance will fan flames of tribal politics and all the inherent dangers that go with it. I predict that if elected President, Ousainou Darboe will be worse that Yahya Jammeh he asserted. Even after he resigned from NADD Halifa Sallah was opened to negotiation but you can tell from the exchanges that Darboe was not willing to negotiate. Like Darboe argues Ceesay, his newly found friend NRP leader Hamat Bah is a failed politician who only joined ranks with Darboe because he could not retain his parliamentary seat. Bah came to the US and lied all over the press that the opposition was going to unite. Since his return did he ever say anything in that direction he asks rhetorically?
On the purported prediction by Darboe’s grandfather the famed Dobo Kemo (Mandinka for the learned/revered man of Dobo) that one of his grandchildren (probably lawyer Darboe) will be a national leader, Ceesay says it’s all nonsense. I cannot take this prediction seriously because the meeting we had at Darboe’s native Bansang was a colossal failure. It was the worse we had throughout our provincial tour in 2001. If Dobo Kemo’s prediction is valid how come lawyer Darboe failed the Parliamentary bid at his home in the 1996 National Assembly Elections argues Ceesay. Added to the Dobo Kemo mystery says Ceesay, the majority view that Hamat Bah talked about in your interview with him is baseless. Take it from me that most people who were in UDP in 2001 have left likewise the NRP. Today, Hamat Bah’s party is in shambles. Mam M’banyick Njie of Barra and all his followers have defected to the APRC and went with President Jammeh. According to Jabel, Bah’s allegations that some officials in NADD were aspiring to share a cake that was not baked was seminally stupid as Bah was out of context. If Bah believes that he had a cake how come a newly graduated secondary school boy sent him out of parliament he asks furiously.
Based on these facts contends Jabel Ceesay, my family, friends, followers and fans have all joined ranks with NADD and no amount of money or official inducement can change our position. The youth of Serekunda will massively vote for Halifa Sallah on Election Day likewise our militants in N’gene Sanjal where I originally came from. Waa Juwara was a Commissioner in all five Divisions in The Gambia and you will be amazed at his ability to gravitate the mass to NADD reveals Ceesay. How about Landing Jallow Sonko who was a local government under the PPP for over a decade? Let’s wait and see the majority junk Hamat Bah was prevaricating about. Friday September 22, 2006 will expose these twins of deception contends a highly up beat Ceesay. NADD’s candidate Hon. Halifa Sallah is the best option for The Gambia- he is educated; he is not a tribalist, he is not a liar, he is not a womanizer, he is not an alcoholic, he has never been in Yahya Jammeh’s company let alone join his government posits Ceesay.
On a final note reports Ceesay; I want to tell the whole world that Ousainou Darboe was a member of Yahya Jammeh’s party before we formed the UDP. My brother and friend, the late Mahtarr Ceesay, a trade unionist was Ousainou’s best friend. He has named a son for Ousainou. The two of them used to meet with Yahya Jammeh at vice President Saikou Sabally’s residence after the coup. Lawyer Darboe advised President Jammeh on legal issues. They only fell apart after Jammeh realized that Darboe had political intentions. Before his death, Mahtarr had forewarned us Omar Jallow (OJ) inclusive that one day, Darboe will betray us because Darboe betrayed Yahya Jammeh and himself; that that was why he was scared of Yahya. Today, Mahtarr Ceesay is vindicated he said.

Jayanfara, You are ABSOLUTELY wrong. Jabel was a UDP supporter. As you were aware, UDP and PPP were one until now. I am sure his preference of a leader was not Ousainou because of his flawed character, yet he risked his life to support the UDP flagbearer. I am ABSOLUTELY sure about this. I know Jabel quite well and that is why I have the audacity to forward this here. Please speak of what you know! |

UDP and PPP were not one. That is a fallacy. They formed an alliance in 2001 to contest the elections. That gives credence to Janyanfara's assertion that Jabel may infact be OJ's boy.
Jabel said: If Darboe is not a tribalist why did he not call some others and me who sacrificed their lives for him and the UDP during his last visit to the US?
Jabel has some deep seeded animosity he need to work on. How he can equate not getting a phone call to tribalism is beyond me. This is the kind of voice our online newspapers are giving credence to. Shameless demagoguery. |

Bro Blackerberry, Gebel Ceesay is more known to me than my own room and when you ask him he will confirm this unless he want to lie as he had mmanifested in alledging about Darboe. Someone had already answered you lark of understanding of an alliance and two becoming one.Gebel was and still is an OJ boy and a memeber of PPP just like me and bro Blackerberry,I was with Gebel from day one of the last presidential campaign to the counting of votes. Maybe if Gebel responds, then we can discuss. I still stand by my words that he was never UDP AND he was lying about the Talinding saga and all he said about Ousainou.I am no UDP infact I am still PPP and follow my leader OJ Joining NADD.But you know my brother, lets call a spade a spade and always stick to the truth.Gebel was not a diehard supporter and he knows this.If you know Gebel,I can tell you what he is thinking now reading my reply. No further comments. Bye... |
