Even soap that Sankung Sillah makes is not enough for domestic consumption. So there is some market out there. may be another gambian should build a soap making factory and stop importing eggs and mayonaise. he is really making profit and a hard time to meet local soap. Its top quality soap no doubt about that.
Njuks i have seen the big mayonaise barrels. So many sizes all over. Its a joke what is happening. Even the so called vegetable oil coagulates just under the shade. Its not vegetable oil but fats. Diabetes is now a national issue. infact i think there is a diabetic patients day at RVH. You will be suprised the numbers that turn up every week, the eye operations that follow.
I dont think we need to export any of our peanuts. We do not even grow enough for local consumption. Right now farmers are still owed but if you go up country they dont have seed nuts for the current farming season nor enough peanuts for DOMODA. By exporting we create scarcity at home and increased prices beyond what our farmers are paid for their peanuts.
If i had the money, i will buy all the peanuts in the country and store in whare houses. Sooner or later they will come back for them again for use or for seeds. Somebody just needs to figure this out.

Koondorong& Njucks I MUST CONFESS i'm very very impressed with your honest and exact expose. I hope many Gambians and friends of The Gambia on this forum could see the wisdom portrayed. The Gambia is ours, we make it what it is. Every successful nation has sacrificed at one stage of its life for future generations. Why can't we do the same? Gov't this, Gov't that. Its only, honesty, hardwork, patriotism that can deliver The Gambia. manna will never fall from the skies. Gambians don't need necessarily need an intellectual gov't to devlop. Where there is a will there is a way. We need honest, hardworking and visionary leaders. |
