well Arafat used to attend OAU meetings. and african ministers always attend G8 meeting, not the main meeting but side events.
anyway if you are right we are definely in the spotlight and hope we get a lot of news coverage (CNN,BBC etc). in fact i hope they keep him there for a few days so he can say something controversial.
that would be even better, publicity wise |

So it looks like only disgruntled presidents identify themselves with Africans. Chavey is also attending |

what do you mean. Iran has a right to obtain a nuclear weapon. why not. infact it needs it more than anyone else as it is surrounded (not bordered) by nuclear powers, India, Russia,China, Pakistan, Israel etc.
dont fall into this western double standard crap! |

I dont think we should read too much into Iran attending the meeting. Africa has a right to listen to both sides of the arguments and make up our minds not be told iran is dangerous or otherwise. |

I think you are just playing to the gallery. The reality is that Africa has to teeth to bark. It is a DEAD HORSE. WE ALL HAVE ONE SINGLE VOTE ANT THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY, HOW COME WE CANNOT EFFECT ANY CHANGE AT THE UN. WE EITHER TOW THE LINE OR FACE THE CONSEQUENCES. PERSONALLY I AM NOT GIVING THEM MUCH THOUGHT FOR THE SUMMIT.
The problem is whether africa listens or not, she cannot do anything. It is a waste of thime and wishful thinking. |

Gambia just like all other nations needs to keep functional bilateral relationships with other nations.
Because of this Gambia has to be careful with whom it entertains such good relationships. Iran however is okay to deal with, especially when there is in power a good leadership but right now it is my personal take that right now Iran with Ahmenajd is not under a good leadership and because of that we need to be careful.
At the end of the day, oil or no oil Gambia is a small country with very low and very fragile fences and because of that we cannot afford to ruffle the feathers of some big birds. The secret is how to accomplish a good balancing act.
One word to the wise is quite enough.
Peace form the Son of Haileh. |

Well said Soh, I think in this point in time , Jammeh should stay neutral rather than taking parts.Remember the American policy, a friend to your enemy is your enemy. No wonder the khadafie keep homself to himself through the summit. And some of the remarks made by both the venezuilian leaderand iran president are out of the AU context and therefore irrevant to the Banjul summit.I think they are indirectly casticating the US and Europe.othewise who is a global bully? If they came for forstering relationships, thats most welcome but there was a hidden motive begind their presence in banjul and Jammeh should be very careful.I am sure most Gambians will rather prefer to stay neutral than to take sides between this conflicting parties and jammehs move is now seen as the general stance of the gambians. After all what have we got to gain anyway from both sides I mean. |

These Vene.and Iranian presidents were invited by Jammeh not by us Gambians. So anything they said about the west and America, they said it with their invitor we are no part in it.However,I agree we should remain neutral with our relations with any country but we should also not allow our country to be used as any country's dumping ground. peace sitasungo |
