However , i know that the report "The National Consultation Committee"(NCC) chaired by Dr. Lenrie Peters in around 1994 that gave the then AFPRC a "two year transition period" contained a two terms limit for presidency. However , when the report was submitted to the executive (AFPRC) the two terms limit provision was squashed. So the Gambia never actually has a presidential term limit , it was only suggested by the NCC report in 1994....
Guys, kejatta is right. This is correct.AFPRC COUNCIL changed the draft b4 it was presented to the people. As you all knew the Gambia lived and breathe with rumour["DOU KU DOU KU"],many were saying to people vote for the draft because there is a term limit. So based on that many voted yes without knowing it had been removed. Thus still the confussion.
No the draft that went around the country had a two term. People voted on that basis that it was there. So actuallly we never knew what we voted for because no one came back to tell us any changes. SO THE CONSTITUTION IS ANYONES GUESS
WELL IT IS NOT SUPOSED TO BE A MYTH. THE CONSTITUTION SHOULD BE A DOCUMENT QUITE CLEAR TO ALL OF US. THERFORE IF SOME SAW IT WHILST OTHER DID NOT, THEN WHO VOTED FOR WHAT. ITS ANYONES GUESS.
