Hi Kayatta
"DEMOCRACY MEANS SHARING POWER". But the sad reality of it is that is the eximperialist countries in cohots with the US and multinationals who monopolise and manipulates to maintain a struggle hold over Developing Nations natural and human resources. The Globe system is rotten to the core and was devised to keep power in the Developed Nations by controlling the resources of Developing nations to maintain their unsustainable standard of living. The Democratic model goes hand in hand with expliotation of Poorer nations.

KONS:
MARX WAS PERHAPS THE MOST MISUNDERSTOOD TEACHER IN HISTORY. TRUE COMMUNISM JUST LIKE TRUE CAPITALISM NEVER EXISTED. BUT CAPITALISM TRIUMPHED OVER COMMUNISM BECAUSE THE CAPITALIST STATES WERE ABLE TO INTEGRATE CAPITALISM ( AN ECONOMIC DOCTRINE ) WITH DEMOCRACY (A POLITICAL DOCTRINE) WHILE COMMUNIST/SOCIALIST STATES FAILED TO DO SO. |

Jany.,
Thanks for the pieces above, a parade for the younger ones. Debates ain't nothing but arguements. I am still on the world cup, and little time to argue on every line, but a lot to learn from your rejoinder. Intellectuality is about proving the point, and in todays world, all you need is substance to validate claims or rebute them. Thanks once again, you write like Sheriff Bojang. Many a times people's arguement on things are judgemental, but that make good debates.
Good job-that's what i call education. Disagreeing, not expecting that i know and telling me why. It is a lot to agree on, and some redflags, which i think are as a result of the consortium.
I am neither ppp nor Ojrite, though over the years observed him to be steadfast in the struggle. As a result have anomous respect for him and any who is committed to the struggle.
Catch you on !! The struggle continues !! Dalton |

Kayjatta, you hit the nail on the head, the lack of real democracy perhaps means that its only a concept not practiceable.

Dalton1, Thanks but how is the world cup going on?I learnt all African teams are out.Is Nigeria not in this time?
I have regards for OJ(T) and even Jammeh,I sometimes like and agree with some of his decissions.Despite some sayings and acts make me sick to near deaths.I only try to weigh and not to werewolf my self into liking someone so much it blinds me of my love for a common cause....Gambia.
I have less time watching football except when Gambia is playing.Am not being rasist or Gambia-crazy here honestly. My son loves football so much maybe he know every footballer in the world but I belief now in the Gambia,he can only watch the AU summit on TV.Thats why he wants to be here now. I do know pele,Beri beri, Joe tennis, Billy Badgie ect ect!.Maybe I have more tight scheddles to think of football. peace Janyanfara |

Hi folks :
I have been away a little while , and I have a few things to address. You see we as a group needs to know where we are going to , otherwise we cannot make any progress in task we have undertaken. We need to understand and believe in democracy in other to be able to contribute to it's development in the Gambia. The fact that there may not be a perfect democracy anywhere in the world does not mean that democracy is impracticable like Somita wants to believe. Democracy is a process; it doesn't have to be perfect. It however has to reach a level acceptable to existing standards, and it needs to be constantly improved on .It is a continuous work to distribute power. To say that democracy doesn't work and should be revamped in the Gambia is to legitimize Jammeh's "dictatorship" .How can we call for the restoration of democracy, the release of unlawful detainees, and so on and so forth if we don't even believe that democracy is possible ?I strongly believe that we have a democratic platform in the Gambia on which we can improve. We cannot go astray and throw away all what we have achieved in past forty years. And sister Omega , your complains are perhaps legitimate but that is not gonna solve our problems . It will only make us angry and backward like much of the middleeast is . We needs to think smart in terms of our resources like China and India are doing . Kondorong, I am not actually a student of Marx. I just respect and agree a lot with him and many others who positively impact the condition of human beings. The best way to appreciate the ideas and teachings of Marx is to understand the workings of most of today's "capitalist" states like U.S. and Western Europe. If anyone argues against the practice of democracy in the Gambia, please give me your alternative system.
thanks.

I dont wish to excuse him, but I suppose he was a man of his time in history. Do you think he would be racist now? I am very shocked by this and when I have more time I will indeed go back and try to learn more. As a teenager reading sociology Karl Marx theory was fantastic to me. It hasnt worked in practice and as I get older I have moderated my view to a social democratic view. But I still dont like the american model where profit is everything. I judge a society by how it treats its poor and weak members and i think in UK we have it about right. Though NOWHERE is perfect. I am still in shock. karl Marx a racist. So when he said he believed in equality he just meant for the working class WHITE population? I wonder what he would say today about migrant workers? I would like to think he would be on their side as they are the new under class. |

OUR PROBLEM IS GREEEEEEEEED
I would agree with that, I would also say that JELOUSY is a greater problem,in the sense of If you have something why cannot I have it,I will break your thing because I havn't got one. This all stems from money if you havnt got money then you stand no chance of improvement except in a cultural way, some civilisation have developed that way of living I am sure but in general its money that makes the difference.I am not saying that things from the western world are good for Africa BUT what I will say is that the western world MUSH HAVE things from Africa that only Africa can grow because the climate is right, and of course OIL.I can give many examples of Jelousy in Gambia but I dont want to keep critising, this Jelousy is never discussed openly and I wonder if Gambians think its just the way of the world everywhere. |

To clarify, I approve of supporting the rights of an under class and not of the fact there is an underclass. I just didnt express it quite right! LOL! |
