leadership is not about absolute power in the hands of one person, it is shared leadership so that many can grow in the same direction.

leadership means thinking about the common good of others before oneself.

in my humble opinion..

The law an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.
Mohandas Gandhi

The question you should be worried about Kondorong is how long are those lights going to stay on after the summit. Howmany nights will gambians have their lights off because money was spent lighting up such a foolish endavore as the AU. Think about it , what is the AU really for apart from a talking shop. What should tell you everything you need to know is that the leading contenders for the sumit ware Sudan and Gambia. Two homocidal regemes. The AU can't even mount a successful operation in Darfoe. What is it good for apart from foolish confrences and begging for the EU and the US. It is really shameful to have so many clowns gathered together in such a forum. REsently, Obasango nearly dragged Nigeria in to a civil war by wanting to change the constitution to allow him another term in office. Who is gathering in theis confrence. Khadafi, Mubarak, Jammeh, Eyadama, Kabila, Campaore, Mugabi, Bashir of sudan, Zanawi of Ethopia Habre of chad, Gbabo of Ivory coast, The president of kenya Kibaki, Uganda's Musavini......The list goes on and on. Every single one of these rogues, you could write a Phd desetation on their evil doings. They are mostly, murderers, thiefs, and power hungry dolts. So to think that a meeting where these clowns are treated as respectable human beings is going to add any good to society is simply to kid our selves in to beliving the rediculous.

No. Leaders do the right thing right. It is one thing to do the right thing, but it is another to do it right. Corruption is an example. It is a right thing to bulid roads, but is is wrong to inflate costs for personal gains.

Inaddition, the AU has brought in alot of infrastructural developments like road pavements, el;ectricity, banjul is cleaner and out of slumber, sanitation is higher,. If this can continue after the summit, we will soon be proud of Gambia once more. In addition, it has given us a spot in the world we never had before.

Kondorong,

i was in The Gambia last week and take it from me, the AU summit has brought with it a lot of permanent good. yes there are street lights everywhere, from Westfield to Talingding,West field to Shell fajara to the Airport and to Brufut.there is also our second set of Traffic Lights at West field Junction!! the roads, airport have been improved etc. a new Sheraton hotel, i also witnessed three new generators arrive on wednesday with a total of 20MW. remember this is almost halve of what is currently installed!!!! i was told that weeks before they got 3 or 4 MW running already for the summit. we can go on forever.

but for me i think those invovled have done a great job in just a few months. its almost like German efficiency. another thing i noticed was almost everyone was looking forward to the summit and the national mood was to contribute somehow. everyone wants to do something no matter how small and this brings the country together.there is also a lot of marketing involved and i think economically it will filter down to the last man, which is a good thing.

there was a joke in town that your guys the 'TAXI DRIVERS' were now used to light on the roads so they were driving with their headlights off, i guess they must be from Yero Bawol

finally i think its all very good and well done to those involved and congrats to The Gambia.

tHATS what am talking about. I like the Gambia. I am just frustrated if my country is not moving forward. I congratulated the APRC for the advances made during the last two months. Unfortunately at Yoro Bawol, we are still waiting for Yanks to rescue us.

It is interesting, the police should advise the TAXI DRIVERS to keep their lights on at night even though the street lights are on. GOLO AM NA ALMET.

The APRC need to to be a bit tolerant and respect human rights. Gambia will become a heaven. Njuks you have mad my day. Unfortunately i cannot afford GELEGELE fare from Yoro Bawol. I would like to see the Sheraton Hotel.

ok i will stop before it turns into a rural/urban divide issue. what do you have in Bawol? beaches, fish, heritage sites, any stone circles?? if you market your ''product'' the industries/capital will flow in.

anyway i thought Yoro Bawol was in Senegal, which one are you talking about. there are so many . perhaps an identity crisis??

please inform those who dont know about Yoro Bawol so they know

KONDORONG :
ONE BIG ADVANTAGE OF THE AU SUMMIT IN THE GAMBIA COULD BE THAT OF PUBLICITY. THE MEDIA EXPOSURE THE GAMBIA WILL RECEIVE COULD HELP PUT OUR COUNTRY ON THE MAP . MOST PEOPLE I TALK TO IN THE U.S. HERE DON'T KNOW OR HEARD ABOUT THE GAMBIA AT ALL. THEY KNOW NIGERIA , GHANA , LIBERIA , SIERRA LEONE , EVEN SENEGAL TO NAME A FEW.
NAME RECOGNITION GOES A LONG WAY IN AIDING NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT.
THE OTHER BENEFIT OF THIS IS THAT WHILE THE MEDIA SEARCHLIGHT IS ON THE GAMBIA THE ILLS IN OUR SOCIETY AND GOVERNMENT WILL ALSO BE OUT THERE FOR EXPOSURE ,SCRUTINY , DEBATE , REACTION FROM THE WORLD.
IF WE ARE NOT SEEN AND KNOWN BY THE WORLD , OUR CONDITION WILL NOT RECEIVE EMPATHY AND CONCERN FROM OTHERS.
OF COURSE , THE GOVERNMENT WILL TRY TO WINDOW DRESS AND STAGE- MANAGE THIS SUMMIT BUT HOPEFULLY THE WORLD WILL BE WATCHING BENEATH THE SURFACE.
