Gambia Press Union and the media industry mourn the death of Swaebou Conateh, a veteran Gambian journalist and publisher of Gambia News and Report newspaper. Throughout his career, Mr. Conateh defended and promoted press freedom and freedom of expression. He used his media outlet to train and mentor young journalists and many of his trainees graduated to become successful professionals.
While we grieve his departure, we must also celebrate his role as a father of Gambian journalism and for his commitment to the welfare of journalists.
May his soul Rest In Peace
