Hehe, the Marabout did not commit wrong. He should be freed. There is no evidence showing that the man received money from the banker and it would be unreasonable to assume that her story is true because NO sane person would disburse such a significant amount of money to a random stranger who intercepts them on the streets.

The courts should not set a marabout recovery fee precedent, it is within the rights of people to be extremely stupid. Only legal idiiots should be protected from marabouts.

In Chairman Jammeh's banana magic republic, this is a norm. Lot more is going on at Kanilai than what happened in this case. President of Guinea Bissau called to the demons of Kanilai for rituals before elctions. When he won, he returned to confirm his victory before the mighty Kanilai demons.

To admit, this makes more fun when you relax to think over it.

She further narrated that, on the 12th July 2010, the accused assured her that the process was nearing its end, and soon she would call him to say that she has been successful.
"Instead of being successful, I got into trouble because I lost my job," she finally told the court, and there was laughter in the gallery.
Lol! this is a lesson to every stupid person.Trust no Marabou but believe in Yaya's holy water as it cures Aids.

Hi Bro Kobo et al:

Greetings.

Time and again, it looks like there is no lesson learnt from these “money doublers” aka dupers, even after much publicity of court cases. That is really sad and pathetic, especially to the victims of these con-artists. If these marabouts knew how to double money, how come they are not doing for themselves first. The whole thing is not funny. There are still many in our society who are still engaged and believe in this money doubling business. This is absolute rubbish and the work of magicians.

Thanks for sharing...

A Fool and his/her money are quickly seperated!?

Maybe if the Banker wasn't so greedy and willing to work hard for her success then she would still have her money and her job today!

Sympathy escapes me because not only did the Banker kill the goose that laid the golden eggs, she gave away the eggs and all of the money with it. Then what did she get in return for all of her troubles? A brick and some rags. Still unaware of her folly. She takes the alleged Marabout to court and what does she get for her judgement? Laughter.

Now just imagine if the world's greedy Bankers responsible for the world recession went to see this Marabout for success and got the same outcome. Millions of People around the world would be rejoicing and laughing about the sweet irony of Poetic Justice.

Peace

I don't think the marabout committed any wrong either. Practicing as a marabout or traditional healer in the Gambia is not a crime. Jammeh himself does the same whether he collects money from his clients or not. Besides the marabout didn't guarantee anything; he was only seeking divine intervention by praying and making sacrifices, and receiving payment for his services to the 'Banker'. Sweet! I like this story.

Justice prevailed...! the Marabout is free to go about his normal business. He could probably use his acquittal as an advertisement of his charms' potency.
http://thepoint.gm/africa/gambia/article/prosecution-fails-in-marabout-case

"Magistrate Lamin George of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court on 13 December 2010 discharged and acquitted one Mutharr Cham, a marabout, who was alleged to have received D125,516 from Yasanu Jobe, the complainant, to pray for her to succeed in life.

In his judgement, Magistrate George told the court that the accused was charged with the offence of obtaining money by false pretence and the prosecution had called in four witnesses to testify.

He said the accused was alleged to have received D125,516 from the complainant, Yasanu Jobe, to pray for her success."
