Wow may be one should not walk in Sweden. I will probably buy an armoured tank and drive in it.(laugh). Hey can anyone show me how to get the smileys. I can only access them when i am editing and not when writing a new posting. Is something off. |
When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they can seem invincible, but in the end, they always fall. Think of it--always. |

Kondorong, you can see the smileys when you press on " Reply To Topic link" instead of the "Quick Reply" box.
Njucks, I will surely like to have a cup of tea or coffee with you at Gamla Stand.
I hope those of you quoting the law here and there take time to read the disclaimer of the Bantaba at the bottom. |

Think that little word disclaimer needs to be made a bit bigger! I had never noticed it. But I dont think anyone was blaming you for the contents...how could they? I think it is up to individuals to monitor what they are posting and to do it responsibly. The issue I think is what to do about someone who continually insists on making it PERSONAL and making accusations without any evidence. The law should always be a last resort and as Bablyon has said probably it wouldnt stick anyway. We need to be self policing and responsible.

kiwi01, not sure when you joined the bantaba, but bamba is like that to everyone. there is an option, take your self away from bantaba, I hope you don't because that would play into bamba little game. Answer back on the forum. Read some of Bamba postings they are quite ridiculous. How can you trace a computer. people use internet cafe/ libraries/colleges. KIWI01 stay with us. |

I find this thread very very sad!
Thank you so much to Njucks, kondorong, momodou, you clearly show here how Gambians are peaceful and very mature. No disrespecting from you, you rather try to avoid and stop a big argument. This is how I know Gambians.
Njucks wrote:
quote: there is no legal case here. Bamba himself has been called a racist!!! perhaps you should all be in the same court room and sue each other, infact under what Law (danish, British, Gambian ??)
for all we know Bamba could be White
no one should be punished for expressing their views. thats why we have a bantaba. its a free society.
Njucks I love your ways! Unfortunately, most gambians know us very well and don't even get involved, and if they do, like Bamba, this is what happens.Or most of them don't say what they really want because it would cause arguments because we don't understand. What a shame. But I admire Gambians for their discipline, how they can sit on their mouth and just keep quiet.I can really understand now when people say what's the point...
There is a lot to learn for us toubabs in this particular thread, as we can clearly see the different way we approach a problem and how we bring our attitude across. Also if I can remember correctly, Bamba said that we ALL can learn about each other in this Bantaba. How very true, I can see what he means. Here we have a clear insight into each others ways of discussing.Unfortunately, we toubabs don't look too good here But that's nothing new to Gambians, we just keep proving our stereotype right.
Tollerance and an open mind is needed FROM OUR SIDE!!
Kiwi let GOD be the judge.Because your judges would be white and have no clue about life outside of europe, how other people think....what if the judge was Gambian? This world is so injust(?)it makes me sad. |

I would like to say a special thank you to gambiabev on this matter.
Jambo, I have been reading for several years. Thanks.
Njucks, the fact that Bamba by someone has been called racist, doesnīt give him right to call me either racist or alcoholic.
To call someone ***** because of his/hers opinion is namecalling, to call someone racist and alcoholic on no grounds at all is libel. Thatīs it.
Momodou, I appreciate your effort, but still there was no apology. These days have been some of the worst of my life. Just move on? Thank you for providing us with this site. Iīm off. Peace to everyone.

Greeetings Everyone,
Jambo,I don't think much Africans even bother to go to Speakers Corner in Hyde Park, London. They have better things to do.
Come on people the beauty of the Bantabaa is to hear divergent views. Once one writes something no matter what their intention, it is opened up to interpretation. That's the nature of writing and also learning. A certain amount of detachment is needed to survive as a internet writer.
I think Momomdou has been fair within his role as Administrator over the years and that he is doing a good job, by providing us all with this invaluable platform to express our opinions.Sometimes the vibes can be a bit intense for participants, so it's far healthier to take a break from time to time so that one can return with a refreshed insight.

Kiwi01 and Babylon, I hope you have red the Swedish computer law and know the contents You are not quoting the correct Swedish paragraph. I would advise you to read the Swedish computer law(Data lagen) It has a paragraph on electronically deformation of caracther. Your arguement here is not correct. The Swedish paragraph on electronic proction) is called Lagen om elektronikst skydd. You can be traced and prosicuted for libel on the internet. I am also awear that you live in Sweden and should know the Swedish law. |

Bamba is very insecure. I doubt he is Gambian, he lacks the manners, maturity or dignity. I suspect he's pretending to be African because he wishes he was. It's very sad really. But then he's a sad little man. Bitter, insecure, racist and full of so much drivel that it can hardly be called 'opinion'.
Just ignore the fool. |

twinkly .... i think that someones need to insult another is alot sadder than this thread, Yes i personnally feel kiwi over-reacted abit BUT she has every right to be angry. You say that us toubabs dont look good here..... surely it is worse to purposely insult someone than it is to overreact about the insult? it wasn't a toubab that did the insulting!
As for tollerance and an open mind being needed from OUR SIDE ..... i think that is needed from everyone in the world.
There is just no need to direct personnal insults and accusations at someone you know nothing about for no good reason. And im sure if god was gambian he would agree with that!

Yes Alhassan, I am aware of datalagen. What Iīm saying is that the police donīt take these matters seriously. Nothing gets done here. Thatīs my whole point. And when is it libel? To do it against an anonymous person or a named person? I think itīs quite silly to yell libel when noone knows who you are anyway.
