So Gambia is getting 400km of new roads. this is open to international tender until end of June 06. another opportunity to buy the "I am good for country" vote and also sell off the transportation system in Gambia. I am not cynical but gambians be aware.

Atleast we have seen an open tender that i have cried about all along. May be Junkung is learning. Previous projects were just swept under the carpet and CSE just always wins. This is a good step towards transparency in project allocations and financial prudence. Junkung is commemded for this one atleast.

Please do not allow public officials to corrupt the projects by being inside partners. It was rumoured that the trucks that transpoted gravel and sand for the kombo coastal road and kerewan belonged to JUNkung and was using public officials as fronts to collect monies. It seemed to be a credible rumour. However, the said officer at the department of works has now been fired. may be he knew too much. Infact he was supposed to be an overseer of these projects by virtue of his position. You cant run with th hares and hunt with the hounds.

Well i dont want to open the can of worms but they were secret hanshakes. CSE projects, Arch 22, the Airport were secret handshakes.

FOLKS AS NJUCKS HAVE RIGHTLY PUT IT. LETS LEARN TO GIVE CREDIT WHERE IT IS DUE AND CRITICISE WHEN OTHERWISE.THE ROADS ARE FOR GAMBIANS, THE ELECTRICITY IS LIGHTING UP GAMBIAN HOMES. WHOEVER SUCCEEDS JAMMEH TOMORROW WOULD ATLEAST CONCENTRATE HIS EFFORTS ELSEWHERE OR CONSOLIDATE THE INFRASTRUCTURE IN PLACE. IF I WHERE IN THE GAMBIA, I WOULD NOT HAVE VOTED FOR JAMMEH NONETHELESS, MY CONSCIENCE PRICKS THAT I APPRECIATE THE LITTLE HE IS DOING.

JAMBO WHY DO MAKE SUCH INCITING STATEMENTS AND LIVE THEM HANGING ON THE BALANCE. ARE YOU NOT GAMBIAN? PREVIOUSLY YOU THREW SOMETHING LIKE A SCARE AS TO WHETHER IT WAS SAVE TO TRAVEL TO THE GAMBIA IN THE WAKE OF THE COUP ATTEMPT IN MARCH. THAT SCARE TO ME WAS A MINOR TRAVEL ADVICE AS WE HAD BY THE BRITISH GOV'T IN THE DAYS FOLLOWING THE JAMMEH COUP. I CALLED FRANTICALLY HOME TO BE ASSURED THAT THE SITUATION IS NORMAL. FOLLOWING THAT A GAMBIAN PROFESSIONAL WHO IS BEEN LIVING IN THIS COUNTRY(UK) FOR MANY YEARS , BUT REGULARLY RETURNS HOME CONFIRMED THAT THINGS WERE NORMAL.YOU THE SAME JAMBO, SENT A WHIMPER THAT JAMMEH SHOULD INTERVENE REGARDING your BURUSHIBI HOMES AS SSHFC IS NOT KEEPING THEIR SIDE OF THE BARGAIN. IF JAMMEH SACKS AN INCOMPETENT HEAD , YES WE KNEW HIRING AND FIRING. JAMBO WHAT YOU ASKED THE PRESIDENT TO INTERVENE IS IT THE RIGHT THING TO DO? IF JAMMEH CHASTISES A GREEDY CIVIL SERVANT WE HASTEN TO CALL HIM A DICTATOR. LETS FACE IT. I WILL ALWAYS SAY IT LOUD DESPITE MY PROBLEM WITH JAMMEH, WE STILL HAVE SOME VERY DISHONEST CIVIL SERVANTS. THE GAMBIA IS BIGGER THAN JAMMEH. THE EVIL THAT MEN DO LIVES AFTER THEM THATS WHAT I BELIEVE IN.

DESPITE JAMMEH'S MALADMINISTRATION ITS FOR GAMBIANS TO TAKE THE DESTINY OF OUR BELOVED COUNTRY INTO OUR OWN HANDS. THE WOLOF SAY NDIMMBAL NA SI FEKKA LOHOL BOROMIN OTHER WORDS ONE MUST SEEN TRYING FOR HIMSELF BEFORE HE COULD BE OFFERED A HELPING HAND.

LONGLIFE THE GAMBIA! FORWARD EVER BACKWARDS NEVER!
HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY

I totally agree with your posting except for the wolof saying you quoted above. NDIMBAL NASI FEKKA LOHOL BOROM.

The emphasis here is BOROM which means ownership. I am not wollof speaking but i have lived among the FANA FANA (excuse my words as this is not welcomed in certain quarters) in my early youth. That quotation can best be used where the BOROM has control over his assets. It is true that gambia belongs to all of us. But the posting indicates that Junkung is doing us a favour by developing the Gambia. It is not a favour but a duty that is expected of him. No one forced him to be president. It was his personal choice to be there and therefore the quotation is out of place. It is only used to describe a situation where somene is helping you and who is certainly not a beneficiary of the outcome.

In this case Junkung is both a beneficiary of any developments and also being paid to do it. It is therfore not a NDIMBAL(HELP, ASSISTANCE) BUT A DUTY (WARR GHAL)

madiba, what an attack,
I only mentioned that Gambia was getting new roads, because i read the article and thought it was a ploy, but as bantaba members have pointed out it was also open for tender.
Can I ask where did i mention SShfc homes and Jammeh not keeping his word. did i mention this. I asked a question of whether it was safe to travel which to you might have been the wrong thing to ask. but this is Bantaba i asked for recommendation. You read into what you wanted. I did not know at the time it was a ploy. I only asked because of what I read inthe news. I asked gambians for clarification. You say that i make statements and leave them hanging. SO WHAT.
I THROW THIS BACK AT YOU WHAT WORDING WOULD YOU LIKE ME TO USE.

No. Some gmabians dont want to be called this as they think it is discrimination. I read a rejoinder in the daily observer some time ago from a wollof who hated the name.

I am just being careful since then although in saloum people have no problem with it.

FAN KOJA MBOMBEH. HAI HAKU TEY. DICKAL, GEUNG, GOUTA, HIEW, BENTI are rarely spoken these days. (laugh)

Njuck i really dont think FANA FANA has another name.

Njuks

It sounds sensible since FANA FANA is original Wollof and hence the Mandinkas name "jamakan Suruwah".

FANA , KHOJA AND MBOMBEH are typical saloum saloum names. May be Biraago can help in this.

Kondorong,

I didn't mean that Jammeh is the OWNER of The Gambia. Bro , how many times did i make it abundatly clear here that THE GAMBIA IS BIGGER THAN JAMMEH.

What i meant here was that we GAMBIANS AS OWNERS OF THE GAMBIA, MUST TAKE HER DESTINY IN OUR HANDS(GAMBIANS). THOUGH THERE ARE NON-GAMBIANS OUT THERE WHO ARE TRUE FRIENDS OF THE GAMBIA, THEY CAN'T COME IN JUST LIKE THAT, THEY MUST SEE THE OWNERS FIRST TRYING OUT SOMETHING THEN THEY(NON-GAMBIANS) CAN FOLLOW SUIT WITH THEIR ASSISTANCE(HELPING HAND)

I hope i have made myself clear. Your SANKOFA MAGIC HAS NOT AFFECTED MY BRAIN.(LAUGH)

Anyway thanks for the reminder

thats the point kondorong, is jammehs duty and in the procees he is stealing from us as well.Jammeh cannot build a single road from his own( his salary) clean cash anyway. It makes me sick when people say jammeh is building this, that, those. Can you believe it some electorates even don't know where the money comes from but rather thinks that every thing is coming from Jammehs own pocket.I personally don't admired presidents for the simply fact that they don't sweat for their living like you and I.

LEMON TIME,

Loans are contracted by many if not all developing countries like ours. I agree with you that the interest is high but DO YOU HAVE ANY ALTERNATIVE FOR FUNDING SUCH VITAL PROJECTS? These projects must be done anyway by JAMMEH OR whoever WE GAMBIANS choose to replace him.

Thanks for the contribution
