That is true, Turk. This is a huge tragedy and deserves to be treated with utmost seriousness. However, I strongly believe that my contribution is included in the one million dollars donated by Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. I will see what more I can do, but my means are a little frugal these days... |

I am NOT trying to point score. I am trying to provide people with PRACTICAL information so they can give if would like to through a reputable charity that already has a knowledge base in the country and a worker presence in the country.
I am a very SERIOUS person, please do not try to imply that I do not take such an event with the up most seriousness and respect for the people involved. That deeply ofends me. |

I respect peoples' right to pray, of course, but I personally don't believe in it. I would prefer people to do practical things to help themselves where ever that is possible.
Turk are you saying the earthquake is God's will? I really find that very hard to accept. |

Thanks for reminding me of the quakes that the Californians endured years back. The reason why I think this tragedy is one of the worst/biggest in my book is due to the many after-shocks recorded. Reports have it that more than 30 shocks were recorded along, as you rightly stated, poor infrastructure in Haiti.
We have a state with zero law enforcement or fire rescue personnels in the aftermath of the quake. Reports have it that some government buildings were damaged, thus further complicating the rescue/relief process. Per Secretary of state Clinton, more than 2,000 U.S Marines along with many service men and women from the 102 nd. Airborne team have been dispatched to assist Haiti in that endeavor.
Per CNN, over 100,000 died thus far. So sad!

True statement bro. I will find time to elaborate on this later, inshallah. Very busy at the moment.
By the way, if you are in the U.S and would like to assist Haiti and her people, please contact the U.S State Department @ 888-407-4747 or you can simply text Haiti followed by 90999 to donate $10.00. |

Bev. OK.
Haiti is the poorest nation in Americas. And one of the poorest in the world. Some claim that this may be as bad as Tsunami tragedy in Indonesia. You see people, we are on this together. Whether Muslims, Christians or African animists -all of them exist in Haiti. They really need aid.

| Severely tragic. This human desaster brings pain and sorrow largely shared by many people even in far away places. What happened in Haiti could fall any other place on earth. My most humanely concerns is extended to the affected people praying so that they regain normal life. |

| It is very tragic indeed. I hope the survivors recover quickly from the calamity and may the souls of the deceased rest in perfect peace. |

Rush Limbaugh, a conservative Radio talk show host, is alleged to have said this:
Speaking on his radio show Wednesday, Limbaugh said the earthquake has played into Obama’s hands, allowing the president to look “compassionate” and “humanitarian” while at the same time bolstering his standing in both the “light-skinned and dark-skinned black community in this country.” He added: “We've already donated to Haiti. It’s called the U.S. income tax.”
Pat Robertson, a Right Wing Christian conservative, quoted to have said this:
While Limbaugh received a modicum of support, nobody of note has stepped up to defend Robertson’s claim that Haiti got hit by an earthquake because it is “cursed.” Speaking about the disaster during his program “The 700 Club” on the Christian Broadcasting Network, Robertson said that when Haiti was still a French colony its leaders “swore a pact to the devil” to get out from “under the heel of the French.”

Senegal offers land to Haitians
Senegal's president says he will offer free land and "repatriation" to people affected by the earthquake in Haiti.
President Abdoulaye Wade said Haitians were sons and daughters of Africa since Haiti was founded by slaves, including some thought to be from Senegal.
"The president is offering voluntary repatriation to any Haitian that wants to return to their origin," said Mr Wade's spokesman, Mamadou Bemba Ndiaye.
Tuesday's earthquake killed tens of thousands and left many more homeless.
Buildings have been reduced to rubble, the distribution of aid is slow, and people have been flooding out of the devastated capital, Port-au-Prince.
"Senegal is ready to offer them parcels of land - even an entire region. It all depends on how many Haitians come," Mr Bemba Ndiaye said.
"If it's just a few individuals, then we will likely offer them housing or small pieces of land. If they come en masse we are ready to give them a region."
The spokesman emphasised that if a region was given, it would be in a fertile part of the country rather than in its parched deserts, the Associated Press news agency reported.

I agree, hopefully something positive will come from the president's idea - maybe some other African states (or via the African Union emergency meeting) are in a position to offer this type of assistance, but it has to be immediate.
When you think you have seen it all on the news bullentins, the next day follows by even more shocking coverage.
Definately not a time for Haitians to help themselves as someone previously suggested.
