| Gun wound of any shape and size on the body of a president that paramedics are unable to take care of! Wow!! I'm scared. There is more burning under the skin than a simple bandage could cover. This is an incomplete information. |

| The Idiot is dead, they are just covering it up till a replacement takes over. His predecessor and the dwarf from Gabon also had their deaths covered up for days. I'll be a little sad that his death wasn't as painful as Nino's... |

I think, by Dadis Camara's sudden and spectacular fall, it is clear that this so-called "strong men" of Africa are in fact very vulnerable men. In 1995 Capt. Sanna Sabally almost executed a similar end to Jammeh's fragile regime. That event in January 1995 almost transformed the once notorious 'Bairo' (S.B. Sabally), known for his penchant for assaulting civilians, into an instant national hero. Perhaps, most Gambian's forgiveness and acceptance of Capt. Sabally who now languishes in exile after a well-deserved nine-year sentence in Mile II Central Prisons, is owed to this open confrontation with our chief oppressor, Jammeh. Capt. Sabally was the fire-spitting Vice Chair of the Armed Forces Provisional Ruling Council (AFPRC) that toppled Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara's PPP regime, which was widely described as "the longest serving democracy in Africa". Capt. Sabally's explosive match into State House to "cut off" Chairman Jammeh's "head" was alleged to be over his angry dissent to the two-year time table for transition to civilian rule as recommended by the National Consultative Committee (NCC) headed by the late Gambian surgeon, novelist, and poet; Dr. Lenrie Peters. Jammeh himself, as the Chair of the Miltary Council (AFPRC) reluctantly accepted the two-year time table, but he knew it could buy him time to tilt the political playing field to his favor in future elections. Now I am afraid, Lieutenant Abubacar Diakite who on Friday fired the "assassin's bullet" into the stubborn head of Guinea's junta leader, Capt. Musa Dadis Camara may be lionized and turned into an instant hero in Guinea. Although Lieutenant Diakite's shots were fired in an attempt at self-preservation as he was about to be sacrificed to the U.N. human rights commission for the death of 157 civilian protesters last September; the folly of African civilians is that they get intrigued by the antics of the military. The general powerlessness of the African civilians often make them vulnerable to instant admiration for the power-wielding armed forces. Lieutenant Diakite and his collaborators seem to have carried out a well planned mission, and since they are still holding up and perhaps fortified somewhere in Guinea; the security of the beauxite-exporting nation is very unsecured. Apparently, there are deep cleavages in Guinea's army. It is reported by many international news agencies that there are already "smei-war lords" in Guinea's army with their own loyal "militias". That constitutes all the ingredients for a civil war, it appears. I think it was Jimmy Cliff who sang: "the bigger they come, the harder they fall". I have no doubt Jammeh is tossing and turning in his bed. More sleepless nights ahead... |

| Apparently there are "white mercenaries" training Captain Dadis Camara's tribesman in preparation of a possible civil war in Guinea. |

There have been reports of South African mercenaries also in Guinea training Dadis Camara's militia. I don't know if they are Black or White though. What difference does it make? |

Toubab, I can assure you that I dont peddle stuff from thin air this story was reported by an Associate Press AFFILIATE and below, I will give you the actual wording of where it says "white."
FORECARIAH, GUINEA — Up a dirt road inside the thick forest here, many fear the seeds of Africa's next civil war are being sown.
Beyond two heavily guarded checkpoints is a sprawling camp, where white contractors are giving military training to an estimated 1,500 to 4,000 men from one of Guinea's smallest ethnic groups. The trainees, say a camp employee, a government official and several diplomats, are almost all Guerze, the tribe of Guinea's troubled leader.
The camp is one more sign of the growing instability in this West African nation of 10 million, where president Capt. Moussa "Dadis" Camara was shot at and lightly wounded by his own presidential guard on Thursday. Isolated and increasingly fearful for his safety, Camara appears to be tapping the dangerous sentiment of tribal allegiance in a bid to hold onto power.
Dictators have used such tactics throughout the continent, in some cases plunging countries into civil war. War in Guinea could also spread across the region along ethnic lines, because Guinea shares its largest ethnic group, the Peul, with five neighboring countries.
"We worry that he is recruiting and training this ethnic militia so that it can carry out blows below the belt," said Mamadou Baadikko, president of the Union of Democratic Forces, an opposition party. "If this doesn't stop, the risk of civil war is real."

| I have to agree with you Karamba, Yahya Jammeh shares a lot in common with dadis and the killings that happened in guinea reminds me of the killings of April 2000 which happened in Gambia when the brave men and women who where fighting for there rights and freedom were killed by Gambian officers. On the other hand if you think about it Guinea is walking towards the same path as Gambia under Jammeh. Lets all pray that dadis will not return to guinea and order the killing and detention of more people in Guinea and that the Intl community will help Guinea to get back on track in peace. |

Guinea is at a very critical juncture and I hope all the authorities in the neighboring countries are doing all they can to ensure that it remains stable because if it distabilizes the ripple effects will transcend beyond its borders. We have many Guineans in Gambia and the surrounding countries.
Time and again we have all seen how dangerous a situation can degenerate if there are no structures in place to withstand a sudden change in leadership. Who really runs Guinea today is indeed an open question. In my opinion, now is a time for the competent and responsible elders in Guniea to take back their country from the thugs and in doing so ensure that the corrupt and dictatorial practices they inherited from Sekou Toure and even beyond are not repeated.
Guinea is in a situation where masses are yearning for leadership and sadly noone is stepping up to the podium. In the absence of genuine leadership, the people will listen to anyone who steps up to the plate. It may be at a price,[if it is, a price indeed worth paying] and under such circumstance do leaders truely emerge or are revered if they end up losing their lives in the process. I hereby appeal to them to stand up and be counted for once.
This undoubtedly brings me to the equally fragile political structure for succession in The Gambia. Folks, we wont be far of from where Guinea is if Yahya Jammeh were to die in his sleep today. I know our constitution says the Vice President becomes President, but do we really want to believe that is going to happen with the current political situation on the ground? |

Thanks for that,if you had made it clear that you had a source for your statement that would have been better,to come out with your original statement things were not made clear at all.
With acredited authors like" Associated Press writer Donna Bryson in Johannesburg and Michael Barajas in Jerusalem contributed to this report." it all must be true, must't it ?
