I suggest to Black Orchid to stay at Kotu rather than Senegambia. It is more peaceful and more beautiful.
Bev,how did you guess we were at senegambia? Thanks for the advise. However I loved the hustle and bustle of Serrekunda market, although we were advised by the hotel staff not to go as it was the day before tobaski, and would be very busy. It was and I LOVED IT. And no bumsters, yipeeeeeeeeeeeee.
Hoping to visit Istanbul next year though, always wanted to go there. |

Yes lots of mosquitoes! But also very hot...unbearable some days, although this year was not so bad. The worst thing about this rainy season at Palm Beach was CRABS!!!! It was like something out of a horror film. Huge crabs descended on Palm beach hotel every night and i don't just mean a few...there were hundreds. They even used to climb the stairs to the rooms. Be warned if you ever fancy going in the rainy season. |

How funny. They must come in off the flat beach just outside the hotel! Creepy! |

I can give you some local advise on Istanbul if you like. What do you like to see. Nature, historical sights, night life, restaurants or little bid of everthing. How long and when you are planning to go? Let me know and ask specific questions, i am more than happy to answer.

diaspora! Too many Chiefs and Very Few Indians.
Halifa Salah: PDOIS is however realistic. It is fully aware that the Gambian voters are yet to reach a level of political consciousness that they rely on to vote on the basis of Principles, policies and programmes and practices. |

If bumsters are a problem for you. As all day long can be a pain in the arse you get the same questions When asked where Im from I say Russia If there try talking to me I speak Jibberish They soon go away or I pretend Im deaf and Dum again they soon go away and no aggression

Why not engage with them and ask where they live? How do they earn a living etc? Most are happy if you show interest and respect them as a fellow human being.
.
We have engaged them constantly, and i am sure jambo has, but it honestly does not work. Most are very aggresive, and as soon as you set foot outside the hotel, it starts, and never ends. You eventually free yourself from one young man , and in the next minute you are approached by others. They are very persistant, and will still follow you even though you have shook their hands and bade them goodbye. And thats the whole 14 days in a nutshell. No peace, no rest, just harrasement. My husband and I arn't easily rattled, but it got too much for us, and we would just end up going back to the hotel. So we will not be going back for a while, if ever. It is a problem Bev - not exagerating it really is that bad.
