Last time it was suspicious smoke oozing out of his plane, but the State House reported technical problems. Yet again, from reliable sources at the airport, it was an innocent flying bird jamming into his plane's engine? And again they are reporting technical problems... which is technically right...

But there is more to this story... Security threat seems to be at the forefront... hence the reason why security officers were dismissed.... it is not unusual for planes to have technical problems but that does not necessarily prevent them from flying after short check up... so why the sudden cancellation... Read the story at Gainako..

Dbaldeh, Ahmed Kazai, the president of Afghanistan is nick-named the "Mayor of Kabul" because of his influence being limited to the capital, the rest of the country is outside his control. In a similar way Jammeh is the "Mayor of Banjul" now, he is so gripped with fear, he can't even travel outside the capital...
Recently, the Chairman has canceled several trips abroad because of security concerns. Certainly, the recent shake up in the security forces, as I argued before cannot be explained by the alleged corruption alone. It is too far-reaching than that. There is no doubt a security problem. It is just sad...

All this speculation, any hard evidence, none,I have no idea at all why the trips were cancelled, aeroplanes are delicate and have many systems, some of which can fail, who is going to fix them?,you need experts with sophisticated test equipment, you cannot go down to a local Gambian "Garage" (scrap yard for vehicles) and get a "mechanic" , so I will wait until hard facts become evident and take over from rumour control.

Toubab, hard facts are a tall order in the Gambia-they are hard to come by. The fact is that Jilanka (President Jammeh) is a sword-wielding millionaire; he will not be grounded two times by a broken airplane...

Kay that is a hard fact,if this is a tecnical fault, like you put it money must not be the obstacle to it being sorted out long since,I am convince there is more to the story.

This reporter was returning home by about 9.20pm and met with the president's entourage and counted about 34 vehicles accompanying the president back to Banjul.
How can you count, yet end up with an approximation?
This reporter is just "reaching". Two instances of canceled flights and we a have a Leader that is 'paranoid' and an ineffective President.
Kindly reread the report, perhaps all will see that its just rumor mongering and speculations.
Why couldn't the fired personnel be incompetent, and thus deserve dismissing.
Facts are what good reporting are made of... anything else is shallow speculations.

Calling Jammeh Jilanka insinuates that he is Serer. I doubt Tamsier wont take umbrage at that...

Toubab1020 Maybe and just maybe, there is a "FITTER" at the Airport who can patch the damage , If you start asking about evidence they will run for life ,Ask Demba what his evidence is, why insecurity is possibly the reason why the flight was cancelled ? and if a bird really went inside the engine or is it part of the excuse ?. He does not like me much but hopefully he just might tell ya..............................................Peace

When Fr. Murphy of Saints asked you "how many students are in your class", and you answered "about 35" for example; he would say "you mean 35 and a half students
But seriously Jammin it could be hard to count moving vehicles especially at the speed of Jammeh's convoy. Therefore, the use of "about" in the statement is a cautionary word that allows for a possibility of error. It is very possible to count and still get it wrong...

Moe it just boggles the mind that Jammeh ( I now withdraw the qualifier "Jilanka" since he is not a Serer as rightly indicated by Mansasulu) could be grounded by a bird. A bird?
Jammeh who cures HIV/AIDS, raises the dead, cast out demons and witches, and flies in the night on a broom stick; grounded by a bird that flew into the engine of his plane? No the bird actually flew straight into Jammeh's head.
Anyway, Jammeh-the 'Mayor of Banjul'- was not just grounded two times recently. It was four times. There are two trips to France that were called off, another foreign trip to the ECOWAS SUMMIT after that, and this Qatar trip. I think he should just give up traveling and just stay at home. A Stay-at-home president sounds a great idea to me. It saves our scarce money afterall .

So after the france trip it was safe to travel again ,even though no one was arrested ,the ecowas summit same thing happened ,what are you trying to say or are you just bad at making jokes Kayjatta?

In all essence what you are saying is everyone is scared of Jammeh and they will wait until he travels before something happens, you are either smoking crack or need a hobby Kay ................................Peace

Hey Moe, actually if you look at the time line, all these
cancelations occured within a four month period; the same period that all those outrageous promotions, temperamental outbursts of death to human rights activists and cataclysmic shake-up and firings of security officers....
Can you connect the dots?

No ,there are no dots to connect ,Lang was promote beyond recognition and it's not like you have the best imagination in this world Kayjatta. Are you foolish enough not to realize that the fools aligning themselves with the Human rights activist are goddamn terrorist . You you can can try to portray them as you deem fit ,either way they are what they are in any civilized society . One thing i can assure you is there are lots of Badolla's with Key boards with very twisted ideas and will take any opportunity to show off. I will tell you what I know, you guys are the very threat to democracy since ya'll tend not to give it a chance. In Kayjatta's world facts don't count ,what counts is how many times you can stick your tongue out thinking you are cool, Yo dawg you talk and act like a backward individual and that is no Joke.Give me something concrete and not some tales kay.................................................peace
