Snuggles this one is dedicated to you tell me how you feel about this situation I am sure you are aware of the fact that Older European women go to Africa engaging in Prostitution with younger African men whether it's based on economics or just love well it is also widely believed that It is the classic attempts by some white heterosexual women utilizing their “gender” to downplay their racist and sexist views of the young black males sexuality.
These rich Occidental women have egos as well they want to feel attractive and sexy. They also want to feel “hot” since they cannot “attract” young white men in Europe so they travel to a foreign destination to feel powerful and in control. Its also a well known fact that in Gambia “whiteness” is viewed as a social signifier of power, money, and dominance. where do you get your stats for that line , Moe?
i have met loads of these women (and men) over the years. There are a whole bunch of reasons why they do this.
Some get bumsed into "love" by crafty gambians who want visas and escape and money.
Some know exactly what they want...sex ,,, with strong young men.
Some find true love...
Some are old hags who could not catch their breath, let alone a sexual partner back home. They smoke 40 fags a day, look like creased paper bags and no-one would entertain the idea of sex with them....but they know that thailand, west africa etc gives them a chance of this unlike their crummy existences back home.
Some are into organised sex /hookers/paedophiles.
There are lots of reasons and the least is the one you say of downplayig their views and appeasing their guilt or whatever...well, that is my view, but i aint snuggels.
Whiteness could be yellowness. it does not matter on the colour, only that it is a different colour and that is signifies RELATIVE wealth and a ticket out of the misery of some third world countries.
and, Moe, how come that this much maligned pratice of older wrinklies turning up for sex, is allowed to go on by what is supposed to be a 98% muslim country where this kind of behavious ought really to be eradicated in 5 minutes..?

your govt. knows what's what, but do little cos to eradicate that is to eradicate a whole tranche of tourism and they all got their pinkies dipped int he well of tourism pounds. There is a recession on and gmabian tourist figures have plummeted. The pot is even smaller these days. No-one gonna interefere too much cos there is not enough to go around for those involved already.
You see what they do.. they make a knee-jerk every now and then and send the boys and girls to pokey for anight ( a nice bumse for breakfast money) and theya re out the next day.
they put armed police/army in tourist areas... how many people gonna come back after seeing that?
they cannot and will not do too much cos they need the cash all round.
So, life will go on as long as there are flights and this happens everywhere, not just in gambia.
Either they practice what they preach or they shoudl just stop pretending to be morally and culuturally outraged cos they are not really....

Why not just an open thread. Ummm.
Is it because I have been to many West African countries and yes many times to Gambia. Is it because I’m well traveled. As a matter of interest this winter I’m going to America then Australia then both islands of new Zealand then Thailand then Vietnam / Malaysia then India and then back home to the Uk. No I’m not going as a sex tourist as has been inferred by Turk in the past I’m going for the culture the heritage the scenery.
I’m already planning next years winter trip and I’m going to Namibia /Botswana to experience the wild life on a game reserve then Zambia to see the Victoria falls and then on the way back go to Gambia to see my friends
Like my AIDS thread this has been done to death many times I think Lurker says it all so I’m not going to respond.

For me what goes on between 2 CONSENTING ADULTS be it for love lust or money. Thats fine by me.
