My deepest sympathies goes to Micheal Jackson and his family following the sudden and sad death of this musical legend. A musical giant followed by years of controvercies. May his soul rest in peace.

Bro Tamsier,

Micheal, fondly 'King of Pop' finally rested at 50. The world has truly lost an icon here.

He was a person who won a lot of fame , and was fame itself. Jackson hailed from Gari, Indiana, US.

He was a man with a lot of love and talents. The only thing; the side of his grey area frustrated his fans all over. He was much loved by many.During his last court battle over dealing with a minor which exiled him from America, he almost converted to Islam. NOI gave him full security then, and he was fondly teased "Muhammad Jackson" by the media. Personally, I think he succeeded in making history despite all efforts to undermine his person, whether true or false. His life legacy stays, and will go a long way serving as a reference point for pop music, just the same way Bob Marley can be attributed with reggae.

It is important to note that Jackon is from a very close family.

Sleep well Jackson, till again! You will be certainly missed, far & near.

Michael jackson's sudden death is a huge tragedy. I am extremely sadden by his untimely departure. Jackson's musical talent and genius is quite unmatched and will continue to be an inspiration for generations of musicians. Certainly great people even in death continue to live on. While we express our sympathy and condolences to the family of Michael Jackson we know without doubt that the "King Of Pop" will live on forever. God bless you Michael, and rest in absolute peace ...

The king is dead. Long live the king!
May his soul rest in perfect peace.

Jackson's death is shocking and tragic, but I think he wouldn't have liked to become an old man. He was 50 now. God is great.

You are probably right Serenata. Chronologically Jackson died at 50, but in actually fact he remained fixated in the childhood he missed in his life. Jackson started the rigorous (adult) musical life between the ages of 5 and 11. No real childhood experience as we know it... No wonder the only people he seems most confortable with are children for he essentially remained a child all along...
He has done his best; giving us the only thing he seems to have been socialized to do-music. And he gave us the best of it...

You are right, kayjatta. It is true: Like many great musicians, Michael Jackson was also a tragic hero. Having been robbed of his childhood - and of his identity as a black man, too.

We are grateful for his music. Last saturday I danced to some of his tunes at a party. I am really sad.

Do people on here think he was a saint??? Or a child abuser??
Or something inbetween. At best he was very inappropriate with children. At worst?
I think at times only his money kept him out of prison.

That being said, at the beginning he had a wonderful music talent and it is sad to see a disturbed life cut short.

Lets hope he will be remembered through his great music, in this way he will be imortalised.

After all is said and done here, what remains is that a human being has died . He lived his life which some described as very interesting and others as tainted, whatever it was , my opinion is that human beings are infallible and he being one has his faults too. Now that he has died I hope people would focus on the many good things that he has done , leaving the rest to him in his grave. I feel sadden about his end which is so abrupt and at a point in time that he had to go into seclusion for reasons well publicised and others only known to him and his close relatives. Michael for me was a wonderful person who touched my heart through his various musical performances. I surely will never forget him and join the millions who morn his sudden death. Dying as some described ;young, I think he lived a very wonderful life though like all human being without his own peculiar problems. His time spent with us shall be treasured and hopefully we shall see his children grow to be icons possibly like him, if not then I wish them a very good life free from the hassles of this world.I extend my condolences to his family who like many of us would be feeling the loss with heavy hearts, may his soul rest in peace.

Oh what sad feeling a great spirit left the world on Thursday 25th,2009. Michael's sudden death has shocked the world! Michael was an icon of the 20th and 21st Century. His gift of music touched the Global village. Everyone knew who Michael Jackson was. His music crossed over many barriers and he was fundamentally a humanitarian who came to share with us through the powerful media of music dance songwriting and video. His creativity was boundless. He was the King of Pop. His music will live on for generations! MJ has touched the hearts of so many generations within the Global village and will continue to do so with his childlike innocence. Coupled with his pure genius of unique Performing Artistry will be remembered for centuries.

Michael was truly and undoubtedly a shooting star and I hope he will find peace. Free from worry, the paparazzi and parasties that plagued his life. His crown and title as the King of Pop is immortalised.

This evening Michael Jackson's top 40 on MTV was the only thing that could console me to be immersed in his music before I could even articulate how Michael touched many peoples heart including my own. Just to celebrate his life and touch base with this loss. Michael music was listened to by my parents, Grandparents, children and will be by my grandchildren and their children. His music was often taken for granted because he had always been there as far as I can remember. And that goes for countless family's across the world.

The irony is you never know what you've got until its gone.

One of my earliest memories of Michael's Music was ABC, and I remember as a little girl I would put on the 45 on the record player and atarted dancing to it. I really enjoyed the Jacksons cartoon. When my mum brought my Ben 45 (record) as a present. The Ballard "She's out of my life." Took me back to my school days. Thriller as a teen was revolutionary. The classic "Let me Show you the way to go." Michael's moon walk was so surreal when it came out. Michael gentle voice his fantastic vocals. The handsome African American Child Prodigy who grow up far too early to share his gift with the world. Who grow younger as he got older not recognising how beautiful he truly was. Parodoxically through his major disfigurement from plastic surgery Michael's passing will validate to many of that true beauty comes from the inside. Michael's legacy was love and enlightenment through his devotion to bringing us cutting edge orignal music to inspire us to make our earth a better place. As awesome entertain he was able to tap into the King of Soul james Brown, legendary Motown,Quincy Johns who procuded Off the Wall, Bad and Thriller. His work inspired so may artists. Obviously we can't forget his excellent choreographies inspiring generations to dance MJ truly had a gift of touching hearts and souls to make them POP

My sincere condolences go out to Michael Jackson's family and loved ones. May Michael rest in peace.

Peace

Those here in the Bantaba who pretend to know THE TRUTH about Michael Jackson as a paedophile should keep in mind that

a) the courts found him ‘not guilty‘,
b) there was a terrible lot of money to win for the parents of the allegedly abused children and for the lawyers on both sides,
c) there has always been a strong tendency in white USA to ‘put n.....s‘ who became too popular/rich/successful ‘in their place‘ by smearing their names, and that
d) the tabloids like always were an integral part of this game.

Though I like much (not all) of his music and his shows, I have never been an uncritical, devoted fan of Michael Jackson, and nobody here can say I have a soft spot for child rapers. But this case was stinking of unfairness and intrigue.

Serene,

You hit the nail right on the head with this later post of yours.

What cannot be disputed, Micheal was an admiration to many, much loved -an icon, a pop star, a legendary who revived music, and an achitect of it. In Gary (US) and everywhere, people love Micheal. I remember times when people fainted to death in Jackson gatherings. It reminded me of the late James Brown, and the entire black struggle for seeking recognition and status. Young Micheal at age 5 started his long journey. The "Jackson 5" was when him and his family were getting on the scene.

In the end, he was a victim of circumstances. I only hope he was right in all the accusations against him. Now that he rested, he must be remembered for his life achievements...and the few alleged dark patches on his head cannot define his 45 years of struggle as a music super star.

If there is any such usage that can be allowed to express his greatness in this our communication language here, he was one good 'messenger' of pop music. Though he is gone, his life legacy (music) stays for ever.

Rest now Mike, till again!

I remember when I was little listening to Michael Jackson. Some of his songs were best songs ever. To me, after bob marley one of the greatest musician ever.

I did not like his personality at all, and some of his acts. But who cares. No one is perfect. After all, he was OK and superb talent in terms of Music. I will miss him. I will remember him as one of the best musician ever.

I heard his funeral to be islamic one. His songs were about love and peace. I especially love the songs 'black and white' and 'we are the world'. So he is a representative of umma. Allah forgive his sins.

diaspora! Too many Chiefs and Very Few Indians.

Halifa Salah: PDOIS is however realistic. It is fully aware that the Gambian voters are yet to reach a level of political consciousness that they rely on to vote on the basis of Principles, policies and programmes and practices.
