Birrago

I am making an analysis of the original posting. I was trying to make conclusions from the posting by BornAfrican. What i said is that if Darboe leaving has created hoplessness to the point where Ndure is comtemplating a coup, then it is safe to conclude that power lies in UDP. Because, their absence (UDP) has caused the coup and as such hope would be restored with UDP around. Infact i said that are we not giving Darboe more credit>

This is not my personal belief. May be you need to read my postings again and you will see the context in which it is written.

I read it but it was not very clear. So I just decided to give a point of view and to inform about the conditions on the ground. Your presentation was a bit confusing, though i think i had an understanding of it. Nevertheless, i did'nt want to give a personal intepretation.

I believe the original post was done to creat a debate that's why a just gave my point of view regarding it. It is baseless in substance and there is no material evidence in some of the assertions.

What clarity do you want. Can you be more specific about the confusion. I will certainly help you understand better. I don t like to leave my readers confused. Let me know.

Kondorong,

I had to read your earlier postings to get the gist of what you were driving at.

Point well understood.

The struggle continues.

Alluta continuata. I like your idea of seeing the big picture and Gambians not looking up to some one as a saviour. We are indeed that saviour. I dont think Sankofa will be able to influence you.

I have read about the principle of unanimity as the basis for all Nadd decisions. That is, you don't force people to accept what you think or believe, but you have to convince them through the art of persuasion with facts and clarity to win them over. This principle is very powerful, not only does it enable one to entertain a different point of view or accept an idea that appears completely alien, but it also helps to refine our thought processes and open us to new ideas.

The political situation that the Gammbian people are confronted with, demands a political solution that is tempered with reason, purpose and sincerity. This presuposes the whole idea why Nadd came into being.

For over three decades we have a political system that transformed one political party into an institution by itself, repeatedly wining elections every five years. For the last ten years since after the coup, we have the same political system that transformed a party that was formed by the coup makers into an institution by itself, and Gambians are still wondering whether there is any force that can uproot this giant.

Therefore it should become apparent to us all, that we have a political system that is anathemic to our democratic aspirations. Therefore, it should be apparent to us all that from the first republic to the second republic, the foundations have not laid that can enable each and every Gambian to exercise his/her voice in running the affairs of the country in an atmosphere free of intimidation, coercion, bribery and sheer ignorance. In essence, the people have not been empowered to dictate the course of events in the country. They only participate in helping one political party or another consolidate their grip on the country.

Now we have come to the realization that in order to change this, we have to start all over again. We have to build the institutions and structures that can support and further our democratic aspirations. This is why the effort has started with a people-oriented, issue-driven and institution building national project called Nadd. Its MOU laid out is fundamental and strategic objectives.

Regarding Nadd's flagbearer, Halifa Sallah, there is so much in his record both as a person and in his political statements, that it will be very difficult for him to become something other that what he is.

I remember one time before the emergence of PDOIS, I used to frequent going to see him at his home. And one day he said to me: I have no problem that you are coming to see me. But I am also obligated to warn you that there may me secret agents who are watching the people coming in to see me. So the choice is your.

At another time when I express the desire for him to give me an orientation, he wrote for me a list of topics that I should find interesting to read. When I asked him how I was going to get the books and topics he listed, and he simply told me: go and search for it.

I give the above account to underscore the point that, here is man who not only doesn't want to indoctrinate me, but wants to guide me to search for knowledge on my own. I therefore believe that his whole role in Nadd will be to guide a process, an after the five year rectification program we will exit the political scene graciously.
