Raif Diab. He is aged at least 70 years old with a heart condition. He has had a heart bypass operation in the past and therefore his health isnt the greatest.

This is one of the most kindest generous men I have ever encountered. He is very wise and very well liked!

I was lucky enough to be accepted into his family and be treated as a daughter! There are no words to express just how kind he was to me and no way of ever paying him back for the kindness and love he shows me.

There is not a minute that passes that i dont pray for his release and pray that he is unharmed.

My prayers are with all that are detained!

What harm will a 70 year old man with such health condition bring. Certainly i dont think he has time for a military coup. i hope he is safe and should be brought before trial if there is evidence against him rather than keep him incommunicado

Hi, Im new. I have been trying to find out what has happened in
the Gambia since the coup like all of you since I logged onto the
Net and found out about a few days ago.

Have you seen Lamin Fatty's article in the Independent 'Gambia: 23 Coup Plotters' Arrested". March 24, 2006. There is a Mr. Kemo Balajo who is not listed in other reports of arrest found in the Amnesty International report that is sited on this website, but he's listed is in Mr. Fatty's article (sadly Mr. Fatty has been arrested as well and in detention). I knew of Kemo Balajo when he was working as an engineer in Senegal almost twenty-five years ago. He was a good friend, so now what can be done? I'm going to start by writing letters for Amnesty International's urgent network to the Gambian political head honchos, what other steps can be taken?? Im sad for the Gambia and its people who are suffering these terrible losses Newfy
