My fula friend came to visit me,and met us having a meal.It was a porridge and steaming hot. He grabbed a drinking gourd and filled it up.Without much ado and in great greedy haste gulped the porridge .I watched him struggle to swallow his mouthful and saw him shed tears. Another friend came to join us and he is a serereh boy.He too grabbed a gourd and did just as my first friend deed.He too shed tears.He how ever asked my fula friend why he was crying earlier on and our friend replied that it was because he just heard about the death of a very good relative who suffered so much before his death. The fula boy then in turn asked him why he the serere boy was crying and the reply was that he always cries when he sees some one else shed tears. The rest of us just laughed at them knowing that the real cause of their tears was the hot porridge burning their gullets as they so greedily wolfed it down.
