I have just had a phone call from a friend in the UK. They advised me to wait until November to book my ticket to the UK,and use TCA. Gambia experience are running into money problems and are in danger of going Bankrupt. If you are booking a flight or holiday Beware Tom

I think that like most things financial they are based on perceptions of things, like growth and other intangables,GA has been making inroads into Cape Verde Islands and that may well have had the effect of stretching them plus the global downturn in holidays due to the credit crunch. |

If Gambia Experience is experiencing financial difficulties then it should reduce its fares especially over the school holidays periods. When it seems to screw money out of Passengers the most.

Most businesses operate on supply and demand. So at peak times prices will be higher. FACT OF LIFE!
Although the Gambia experience prices seem expensive we have no idea of their overheads.
I ran my own business for 20 years and people have no idea of the overheads. Even an apparently successful business can have cash flow problems. |

Hi I'm Chris Rowles - MD of Gambia Experience. I can confirm there is no trueth in any such rumors. First I'm not sure how a person working at Banjul ariport would have any knowledge of our financial positions - as they would only have dealings with the airlines we use - any no direct contact with us.
Second, although it is true that we now (as Serenity Holidays) do have operations to Cape Verde, as well as other counties through our sister companies, this does not overstretch us financially - in fact it makes us a more stable company. Senegal has not yet started so this could not adversly affect us.
Third to reassure anyone - we are licenced by the UK CAA, who not only provide garrentees to anyone who buys holidays or flights with us, but also has monthly reports from us and all other tour operators to ensure that they are financially sound. They are the people who would know if there was any issues - rather than any rumour in The Gambia. Hope this settles these unfounded remarks |

Thanks MeMe for posting this. From this reposting of a posting it would appear that this rumour (according to Mr. Rowles) originated from a worker at Banjul airport, the financial world and especially the world of tour operators and holiday companies, are in a fragile state with regards to rumors. It seems that from some of the wording used Mr Rowles he has himself viewed Bantaba and decided to put a stop to these rumors.I for one am very happy with that, from my experience(no pun intended!) they (Gambia Experience)have always been reliable and very efficient and always beeen willing to help when they can,and unless it has changed recently always feed you within the ticket priceunlike some of the competition,if Mr Rowles should read this, Summer seat prices should be put on sale this year because (as Jambo observed) 37 empty seats on one plane would have been filled should Gambia Experience decided to hold a sale.To run a plane with empty seats I cannot understand, but of course there may well have been an excellent reason. Thanks again MeMe for finding this and reposting it.I for one am happy with Mr Rowles reassurance. We all know that Rumors about everything in Gambia start very frequently.

It's hard for those who've paid the full price to end up sitting next to someone who has bought their seat in a sale. That's one reason why some companies don't discount. This rumour may have been confused with the fact that Astreus airline (used a lot by Gambia Experience) is no longer in business as such. |

It is hard, but hey if YOU get a bargain for a fare on a plane, would you turn it down and insist that you pay full price I doubt it! As you have found out that Astreus is "no longer in business as such" that would reinforce Mr Rowles statement that only information about airlines would be available to a worker at Banjul airport, who wrongly as it turns out assumed that Astreus were integrated into Gambia Experience,in those circumstances as the worker did not know the whole set up it was a reasonable assumption to make,so 2+2 in some circumstances does not make 4!
