The death of former Gambian political giant S.M Dibba has been announced. SM as he was commonly known played a significant role in the history of our nation. It is because of him that Jawara could not turned Gambia into a one party political system.
Our political chapter of our nation cannot be complete without this brave man's contributions. Unfortunately, a backward political system has it's own ways of meaning significant politicians worthless.
See full naration of SM's political life in the link below. May his soul rest in perfect peace!!!

Why they didn't give him a state funeral? I think he deserved that... |

I too believe so. A man of his standing in Gambian politics deserves a state funeral. |

I don't think we expect a government that does not recognize the contributions of its citizens to understand the significants of giving such people a State Funeral. Jammeh absolutely value no other contribution except himself.
This was the same argument I made when I.J Tambajang died. There are people in our history without their contributions our history cannot be complete.
May be Jammeh expects to be thrown away silently when he dies too. It is a sad state of affair in our history. |

Does it surprise any? If the UDP parliamentarians that died while serving our house were denied state funeral, where on earth will such a man, one time critical to the APRC will be accorded a state funeral? The fact is contained in the historial memo that the last stroke that broke the camel's back for his politics was when they allegedly accussed him of being part of the aborted Ndure Cham's coup d'tat which cost him his job as a speaker of parliament. History had him being a victim of such, sadly to say. Notably, in the 1981 coup d'tat, he was arrested and discharged later.
With or without state funeral, may be Almighty God will give him a better reception as mercy for his struggle...as He (Allah) willeth.
State funerals like the one in mockery for the late Koro Ceesay is not at all needed. At least, men of honor spoke high of him.
R.I.P SM Dibba!! R.I.P Koro Ceesay!!
