inez, i hope this will make you laugh. it is a common mandinka story. it would be nicer to narrate it in mandinka but since i don' know the level of your understanding of it, i will try it in english.

a little girl was once on the road and a visitor came to her. he asked her about a direction. she politely explained the direction. then the man out of being pleasant told the little girl, " my god you are very beautiful". the little girl remarked, " if you are wondering about my beauty, wait untill you see my mum, she is more beautiful." the little girl added, "but if you see her, you will poo in your pants".
the man became very upset. we have a saying that .kebaa looto kamen jee dindinow lootoo kuba wooje. meaning what an elder siting can see ,a youth standing cannot see that. this is just an irony. the man thought to himself. he too remarked, "if my seeing your mum will make me poo in my pants, then your dad's tummy is empty of every single poo poo." he will continualy be using the toilet.

Surah- Ar-Rum 30-22
"And among His signs is the creation of heavens and the earth, and the difference of your languages and colours. verily, in that are indeed signs for men of sound knowledge." Qu'ran

I found this little girl very smart, believe that she was proud of her mom and at the same time protecting her from strangers...the man in other hand could not think out of box and had no imagination. Sometimes young brains are flexible and old ones not...Maybe Iīm totaly wrong and my level of understanding is very low in every language but thatīs my imidiate tought. I guess you will let me kno.lol...

kaanibaa, yours is more correct. i mean ,the little girl was smart inez but she shouldn't be rude to a stranger. imagine what she said. ''if you see my mum, you will poou poou in your pants because of her beauty''. what else should the poor man do?

He could have laughed, since obviously the girl was very very young..and smart. I agree kids shouldnīt be rude, but also adults should respect children and think twice what they comment. By the way, kids shouldnīt be rude...but where are all rude adults then coming from???

Inez interesting point there, an old African saying was quoted by Santa, your observation though pointed out another, that a rude child grows to become a very rude old person, chilly pepper was hot even before it grew from its seed.Think about this as a comedian on 'Desmonds' says. Humor from our perspective may not seem so on another plane santa so there you go. Cheers though Inez and santa .

I agree Kaanibaa, humour can differ but itīs also difficult to translate funny stories from one language to the other. Pls Santa, try with an other one, I feel very boring right now...
