Today marks the anniversary when students and a Red Cross worker were shot and killed with live amunitions in broad day light by the very people who were sopposed to protect them. They were masacred in cold blood by Gambian security forces for demonstrating against the rape of a school girl Binta Manneh and the tragic death of another student Ebrima Barry.
My sincere condolences to the families of the school children and Mr. Omar Barrow. I wonder how those maimed during the incident are doing right now?

We will keep a record of all the perpetrators of injustice and there will be a day of reckoning in the Gambian courts one day. So those who have not yet been smered please stay away because what happend to Charles Taylor will happen someday and make sure you are on the right side of the law.
I found it insulting that the authorities said that the shooting started from among the student demonstartors yet utopsy report found that all the students shot dead where shot from behind meaning in simple languanage that they were running away and not charging. How could you shoot some one fleeing and accepting defeat. But that is not a suprise if Koro Cesay burnt in his car with no attempt to leave.
We all know that it takes a while for a car to be in flames giving enough time for passengers to leave. This car was not invloved in an accident which might have prevented the door from opening. But even in such a case, we should see a sign that he struggled to get out and atlest his hand would have been found hanging outside of the car. This is crimianl studies 101 and the police should "know" that.

May ALLAH THE ALMIGHTY shower his mercy on to the death and punish the perpetrators of this revolsive action. May ALLAH protect us and make disable our enemies both within ane outside.
Do not worry Gambia, it is very tense and worrysome today but INSHALLAH tomorrow will be alright. Our trust is wholly on ALLAH and we are sure He will not disappoint us. |

I am sure you remember praying for 5 years at Armitage ".... to keep us away from Hunger..." everytime you have your meals. This prayer had not changed anyting. Everyday was "pap". It was not until students took to the streets that we saw some changes. Until gambians line up the streets and say enough is enough, there will not be any change.
We must be active for God to help. I am not sure if prayers will do us anything if we cannot translate that into action. May be we had more faith than the Prophet. Even the prophet did see combat to defend what he believed was right and he was closer to God than anyone right now in the Gambia.
But you see, Taalibeh, prayer is answered for the sincere and that is very rare at home. ther was a case in A VILLAGE when some people read the Quran to curse a palmwine tapper with death. When the man heard of it, he went to where they were praying and said " i know that the Quran is powerful enough to harm me, but not the "your" Quran". Listen carefully, he meant to show that those who were reading the quran have broken every covenant that is stated in the Qran and such, they cannot bring harm to him. This is from a non believer. There was also a story of a muslim male who told his girl friend that he would only marry her if she converted to islam. The lady went and learnt the religion and when she came back, she told the muslim brother she would not marry him becasue he was not a muslim as he never practices what his religion teaches him. She then married another muslim. You see prayer will never be answered from the tongues of the MUNA FI KNHUN. " ISHA HADA SHA KHASABA ..... WA ISHA UTHMINU KHANA" |

Konds I cannot stop laughing. You see mate Jammeh is a monster and currently he has lost his senses and very desperate. He has to be handled with care.
Today we are all remembering the massacred students of April 10th and 11th. Something sweet and cheering might be in the making that you and I do not know. I do not want to see another Liberia in the Gambia.
The prophet said that prayer is the weopon of a muslim. Therefore let us keep praying if we truely believe in our prophet. That is the bottom line. Muslims should not take up arms against each other. jammeh behaves like he is the most straight forward muslim and yet he is the most vicious killer. He has got dangerous arms dumps in kanilai together with senseless boys who are only waiting for his orders to annihelate their own parents. Why give this mad element a change to show his madness.
What do you think? |

i agree. But sometimes you cannot see any light at the end of the tunnel. The news at home is always disheartening. Deaths arrest, shooting ect. Why can't we wake up see positive things in the headlines |

Kondorong, sometimes i cannot hold back my tears. I put my self in the position of the relatives of those affected and I can feel the desperation right in my heart.
I just cannot comprehend why on earth we want to inflict pain and suffering on each other for mundane issues. I was so hopeful when jammeh came to power. I thaught a promising future had dawned on us. This is why I am so disappointed with the guy and I wholly detest his action. I loath what is happening to these people.
The Conteh's family, the Dibba's, the Marenah's you name it. Too many people grieving as a result of their own son's action - jammeh. ALLAHU AKBAR! |

The april 10 & 11 event was very unfortunate and a callous way of the government to suppress its innocent massive through an unforgetable broad day light killing of the would be future leaders of the nation.More sadly they were able to make us more fearful that we don't want to face them openly again with our criticism.Bot one thing i think gambians can do to reduce their grieviences is to secrtly get rid of the perpetrators come the election time, since we don't want another april 10 & 11 in our nations history. That way they will all be brought to justice for their crimes. I would also join all of you in sending our condolences to the families mostly affected. And may the souls of the heros of our nation rest is eternal peace. |

It is a bit sad, that after all was said and done, more was said than done. The Commissions, the Magistrate's Inquest, the Indemnity Act, the court cases...all came to naught! Gambians...Gambians, Gambians WAKE UP! Enough of this indifference and spinelessness. Thoese kids...thus far, died for NOTHING. Sorry to the families, I will never forget them. But I guess we too will have a TRC in Gambia....trust me, the day is coming. So to all those that are aiding and abetting Jammeh and his wicked APRC and Green Boys, get ready. The day will come (ask Charlie boy Taylor), dates on calendars always seem further away than they actually are. BN |

Obi, as you have said, what i hate most is the spinelessness of gambians. They all stood up and condemned the coup which is not a bad idea. But i think they should equally stand up lead by the oppositions and demonstrate against this wickedness.
Dictators dont go in peace is very very rare.I love gambia like any gambian but is time we challenge jammeh.Take my word for it if we dont mind we will never account him for what he has done.We will regret for the rest of our lives. |

Salimina, I agree. We need to get this issue of the present tyranny out. Enough is truely enough. I agree that the bully MUST be punched in the nose. I do not like coups and disagree with the use of force...BUT, in the case of Gambia where: 1. Jammeh came in at gun point. 2. Changed the constituion many times, the last of which he scrapped the 2nd round balloting. 3. He is running for a 3rd term. 4. He is corrupt, dishonest, and a rude incompetent leader who will NEVER leave through the ballot, becuase the IEC is tainted. The only alternative is people power and protests. He will never let that happen, so the next alternative is real power (through the gun). Sorry. If anyone thinks at this point that Jammeh will go through the ballot, you are wrong.

That is true. who going to tell jammeh you have lost the election? Not the so called IEC.So in reality we are wasting our time. Ballot box is not the answer.Jammeh knows the mindset of gambians, that is God put him there lets wait till Gods time is up.Good lets wait and see. He going to kill all good gambians.Am blamimg the oppositions. When dealing with a monster you dont have to be a coward. |

salimina, you are correct. I do blame the opposition. I blame Darboe, Hamat Bah and the other hypocrites like Landing Jallow Sonko, Landing Kitti Jabang, etc...these people came to US, UK and went back home and professed their willingness to lead a UNITED front to beat Jammeh in 2006. They failed in everything they said and did. I even gave them money to help the NADD cause! The only principled persons there are Halifa, and OJ, at least they stuck to their words. If Darboe and Hamat are to be trusted, they must stick to their promise and join a UNITED front, they said it, they promised everyone that. Do not get me wrong, I still will NEVER vote APRC, but I am very worried for the future. Jammeh will win in 2006. Just ot the Math. Sorry. |
